Moorhead/Wayzata

Post by Govs93 »

Keeping in mind that less than a week ago, Wayzata nearly pulled off an upset against AHA, losing only 2-1 at home, what will be the outcome of the Moorhead/Wayzata matchup this Saturday at the Plymouth Ice Center?

Keeping in mind that the Stars played an away game the night before also and regardless of the score still won.

As usual, nobody actually plays a good game against AHA... they just had an "off night" due to circumstances beyond their control (somebody's hurt, they had an away game the night before, the team chef put too much paprika in the pre-game goulash, etc.).

God forbid somebody actually plays them tough.

Because Wayzata has lost to Anoka by 1, Roseville by 1, CDH by 1, AHA by 1, and BSM by 2, I have to think this is trend and not mirage...

Moorhead 3-2.

I'm not at all saying Wayzata didn't play well or isn't a good team. I actually posted before the game that I thought they'd do well and after that I was correct. But people who were at the game and had seen Holy Angels play before said they were slower than usual and not their usual selves.

This one will probably be a close one, but I'm going with Moorhead in OT.

You obviously did not read the thread about the Wayzata/AHA game. SO just for your information. AHA played well, Wayzata's goalie played well. AHA dominated the game and the score could have been 10 - 1, but Wayzata's goalie played great as did AHA's goalie and AHA won. No excuses, no call for saying they were tired, hurt, hungry, in church or anything else. Plain and simple Wayzata lost.

Moorhead wins this one easily, because AHA wore them down. Oops, can't have any excuses.... 7 - 1......

It's clear you pay as much attention to this board as you did to the AHA/Wayzata game (none), because I actually discussed this with you on the AHA/Wayzata thread. Pay attention.

AHA did not "dominate" the game... they dominated the 1st period. AHA was clearly the better team, but give credit where it's due, and don't lie to the people.

Moorhead plays Eden Prairie Friday night and then play Wayzata Saturday at 2:30pm. Spuds will be a little tired but I still see them sweeping the two day trip to the western Suberbs. I like the Spuds schedule playing back to back days getting ready for March at the Xcel.

Trojans play very physical to throw better teams off their game. They don't have enough scoring punch to get into shootouts. Zata also has an outstanding goalie Howe who keeps them in every game. That said, Moorhead will have many PP chances, and, if it's on, they might end this one early. Trojans won't be asking for Morehead.

good test

Post by hotpotato81 »

The better poll question may be, if EP on Friday or Wayzata on Saturday will be more likely to give the spuds the tougher test.

I love the fact that the spuds are traveling and then playing good teams back to back. What a great way to prepare for state(yes, I know Roseau is still out there waiting for us). When I looked at the schedule in November, I thought we would pick up a loss in one of these games, but maybe the kids learned something against Centenial. They need to show up for both games in order to come out with victories. Just another measuring stick to see if they have progressed over the last few weeks.

I like our chances in both games, but feel that Wayzata will give us the better game, I will be expecting a one goal game if not OT. I wonder what kind of turnout the Trojans will get for a Saturday afternoon game? Maybe we will see more Black and Orange, than Royal and Yellow.

Here are three third period worthless, fuzzy, barely viewable videos I took with my PDA/phone from the game today.

Eh, whatever.
