Unless the Pirates quietly grabbed a victory that has slipped through my beartrap of a memory, Warroad has an obnoxious win streak going against Crox. My recollection says that this year's seniors were six years away from conception the last time Crookston took one from the Warriors.

After jumping out to a 3 goal cushion in the first the Warriors limp out of Crookston with a 5-4 victory over the Pirates.

Warroad outshoots Crox 33-26.

The long Pirate drought against Warroad did not end tonight.

Maybe next time, how 'bout Febrero?

The "Pirates" were never a threat to win this game!

Marvin hit the upper crossbar in the third, and the Warriors hit the pipe on the goalies lower left side also in that period!

They were up 4-3 even when that happened, but they were in control of the game throughout!

Crookston never laid down however, coming back at one point from a three goal deficit (3-0) to tie it up for a minute or so!

Great game to watch!

But I didn't notice Warroad "limping out of town" !

I once saw Dean Blais nearly remove one of those steel caged doors off of the home lockeroom at the Memorial. That night his Rams beat the Pirates 1-0, but it was apparent to me or anyone near the tunnel that a narrow victory in a game in which they were in control was not acceptable. The behemothly popular powers up north are the same, loosing or not making a statement against the "middle of the road" 8's isn't OK.

No, the Warriors didn't literally limp out of town. But if they did play well, they would never admit to it when the difference reads one.

Slappy....... is the Crox park district using new nets nowaday's. What is the upper crossbar, the nets I recall only had one horizontal tube of steel?

Ya know, Slappy may be on to something.
As a goalie, one of them there "lower crossbars" may come in realllll handy from time to time.

Well Irishman,

If we're going to get into a little "hair splitting" "convo" I should tell you that a more detailed mind would envision the "crossbar" as divided in three different angles (at least)! =P~

If Marvin hits the "upper crossbar" the puck deflects up and over and behind the net!

If Marvin hits the "lower crossbar" the puck either deflects into the net off the goalies back or out in front of the net producing a "rebound" of sorts!
Or can drop right on the line in the crease!

If Marvin hits the "middle cross bar " it can kill the goalie, if his helmet is lame, by striking the hapless netminder in the back of the neck and paralyzing the goalie later leading to death! :-({|= [-o< :-({|=

Or it could deflect all the way back to the attacking pointman who could "blow it" if he wasn't prepared, by giving up a breakaway jeopardizing his teams chance to maintain the lead!
[-X

If Marvin fires it 2 and 1/2 feet high to the goalies left side, instead of trying to "flip it in", Crookston falls behind further by two goals! \:D/

And we wouldn't be havin' a "convo" about the many angles of the "crossbar" ! :-k

Now would we? Image

Up for grabs

Post by northlandpro »

Just ask slapshooter and he will tell you that "Section 8A is up for grabs". After a quick start it sounds like the Warriors snuck out of C-town with a hard fought 5-4 victory. I personally thought this game would be a blow out. Evidently Section 8A is down this year with no teams currently rated in the top 10. To me this is  .

Why do I feel like I'm in the bathroom at Arnold's listening to a guy wearing a black leather jacket that never has to put quarters into the Jukebox?
