College scout service?
Came across an interesting service today.
www.myhockeyscout.com
An affiliate of this company came by one of our local high school games recently and was watching players. Has anyone else heard of this service? I am curious as to whether this type of service is offered for other types of sports, male or female. Do parents really need a service to connect them with college scouts? Or is this a brand new thing and in the future every girl would want to be included in "The Book" that they offer to colleges?

This same type of service is provided by QuickSkills Inc. Of Grand Rapids Minnesota. Girl High school players are evaluated by QuickSkills Inc. Players are provided the ability to ask any and all questions about the recruiting process AT NO CHARGE. Discussion is held with the players in regard to there desired direction in school and hockey and without providing any guarantee QuickSkills works to find a a match between Player and school . QuickSkills Inc. also runs Skill Development camps in the summer months in Grand Rapids, Chisholm , with 1 to 2 more expansions expected this summer. Quick skills Inc. is poised to announce its first annual Evaluation camp set for the fall of this year in Grand Rapids Minnesota.

Eh, I don't know. If your HS coach is working to help get his seniors in front of colleges, I'm not sure a book is of high value to college scouts. If not, maybe-- at best. Looks like a pretty new service. Reminds me of those "Who's Who" books that are published--honestly, has anyone except people who paid for the listings ever looked in one of those things? Two words come to mind: video and internet.
This strikes me as a marketing ploy designed to play on the emotions of hockey parents. I could be dead wrong and I'm sure they would present an arguement otherwise.
Maybe GHS would share his observations on how this works.

No marketing ploy by QuickSkills Inc. designed to help the player understand the process and to help primairily northern players get a look from schools . No fee's no cost . for the consulting and interface between schools . no book is made or sold and its all pretty much about supporting the player in their cause. The coaches that have the players are the ones that should get the credit and their program, QuickSkills Inc just attempts to be a liason within the process for those who would like help,or advice .. one player that may have been left behind because of not being noticed is a success . It is another mind which can be educated through a sport we all love. This is the mission of QuickSkills INC.

Two different services!
Media is talking about Quick Skills
I posted originally about myhockeyscout.com
They are two different services
What year in school do you start talking to scouts anyway? Isn't freshman year a little early, a lot of girls seem to really hit their stride at about 16 don't you agree?

Absolutely correct ghshockeyfan! spot on!ghshockeyfan wrote:I would talk to your HS coach directly about college thoughts. There is no need to hire a service. Your HS coach will tell you straight up about prospects of playing at the next level, and has to approach this this way so that the coach doesn't destroy her/his credibility with college coaches.

scout service
Parents -
These people are entrepreneurs. They simply wish to make money, and this is a brand new service. Ask yourself the following questions before using any such service:
1. What is the purpose of the service?
2. What do they guarantee?
3. What is their previous success record with other players?
4. Is the cost worth the results?

Regarding the afore mentioned only in it to make Money
In Regard to Quickskills the answer to your question
1) The purpose is to assist Highschool hockey players in getting to the next level to play college hockey.Primarily but not exclusivly from the North. In understanding recruiting process and what to expect and what not to expect
2)What do we Guarantee? That we will work with you to place you in the best situation for your success. That we will work to find you a fit for your college endeavors, We donot and I repeat do not guarantee any type of placment . we Guarantee we will do our best to help you. How you end up will be a result of your decisions and abilities .
3) We have assisted a large number of players through this process and have many we are working with now, we have D-1 and D3 players that we have assisted
4) Is the cost worth the results well you pay nothing so what you risk is your time listening to our process and evaluations. We do have camps in the summer for training in the event someone would like to work on the ice with us . but that is a choice for the platyer and certainly not an obligation
