The "in general" part of your point is so true, my husband and I love sitting in the stands near parents as honestly, its absolutely top notch comedy. We have attended nearly every SSP game the last 10 years, without having kids in the program, but we still have a rooting interest so I cant say we are 100% impartial, but no doubt, SSP parents are some of the worst. But my main point is we also make 10-15 games that interest us, and those especially are entertaining for the simple reason that we of course are completely impartial at those other games since we have no rooting interest, and therefore, watching impartially, you laugh hysterically at how nutso parents become about the "refs hosing" or how obvious "Betty is better than Mary", when in reality they are both average players etc. Its hysterical listening to people make such fools out of themselves and also you truly understand why coaches have so many problems with parents etc.xwildfan wrote:One great benefit of coaching is that the coaches don't have to sit with the parents and listen to all the drivel and negative comments that parents come up with. I never realized how much nicer it is to be behind the bench than in the stands. And two of the worst offenders are a columnist for LPH and the parent of a goalie on one of the prominent girls teams in the areas. I had the misfortune of sitting behind these two jerks one game; I wish I had a tape recorder. They had nothing good to say about any player or the coaches in this particular game. Usually I don't get too excited about this type of stuff; except these two hold themselves out as promoters and autorities on the girls game.
P.S. The "in particular" part of your point is even more funny. Didnt need to ask who one of them was anyway!!! You want good humor just ask MR LPH anything about SSP and the chances of getting some silly rant are better than 50-50, unless of course its between periods at the Kaposia in which case eating the free food takes priority and he will have to get back to you later!!!
