Mr. Ryan has won far more games and had his team in far more games than they should have been in the past two seasons. He know's the players he has, so he plays a super defensive minded system. They stack 5 players in front of the net, who on their own probably block 10+ shots a game.
I do not believe he deserves any kind of criticism, its his coaching, and not the players who have won many of the games.
Orono 5- Mound 1

I wrote recently meaning in the last 5 years, sorry if you didn't get that. I know where Matson played youth hockey, I said if he had stayed in his district, meaning his school district, which is Mound.topshelf37 wrote:Acutally if you would have read the first part of the thread and know anything about these two teams orono won the first game 3-0 in mound. Then in orono, mound came back with three third period goals and one in ot to win 4-3. Also matson has never played for mound he just lives there, but it is in both school districts. He went to school in orono and played all his youth hockey there and was second line center his freshmen year before he moved on to bigger and better thingsGet Some wrote:I would not say this game is always competitive, Orono has smoked mound by 6 and 7 recently. Well said Mr. Ryan, and may I ask if you informed your team you are always looking for a more high profile coaching position.Get Some wrote:Mr. Ryan has won far more games and had his team in far more games than they should have been in the past two seasons. Yeah mound wasnt very good in some stretches over the past five years but the past two years they have split both the games and the overall series is very close. Sorry for the misunderstanding.Get Some wrote: I wrote recently meaning in the last 5 years, sorry if you didn't get that. He isn't doing himself any favors by screwing up games they should have one. Proving a point is not worth losing games that should have been won.Soulforged wrote:Well said Mr. Ryan, and may I ask if you informed your team you are always looking for a more high profile coaching position.Get Some wrote:Mr. Ryan has won far more games and had his team in far more games than they should have been in the past two seasons. What is your obsession with Brad Ryan? From an outsiders perspective he has done a hell of a job, bringing last years team to state and having a team this year that has been in the top 10 for the better part of the year. Maybe you should get a job coaching if it is that easy!

he simply did not give his team a chance to win against Breck. He basically shot his team in the foot by trying to prove a point that his team is completely reliant on Taylor Peterson to win games. I don't think that it is too much of a stretch to say that he lost this game for his team.HSHockey2006 wrote:Colinschroder - Tonka07

it wasn't only this one time where he pulled the backup goalie after just one goal, he also did when the team played minnetonka. it's simply not fair to back up goalie, Luke Gardner, to do this. Other than that i have nothing against him and i still support this team.HSHockey2006 wrote:so your only going by one game in which the whole team played bad? Do you have a grudge against him for any other reason?

He also had a coach that set him up very well, they went to state two of the last three years with a final game loss to blake wheeler and the other guy playing D1, i can't remember his name. But the point is, he has inherited a good program, he has not built one. Todd Weisjahn was the best coach orono had in a while, until he left for armstrong/robbinsdale.HSHockey2006 wrote:Colinschroder - Tonka07

I'd have to disagree with this statement and say that Kevin Armstrong was a better coach than Weis was. Weis also inherited a state tournament team from Mr. Armstrong. Weis then won coach of the year his first year at Orono on a team that was built by Coach Armstrong. Armstrong put on youth clinics at the beginning of each year in order to develop talent for the high school program. much of the talent on the team this year is a direct result from Mr. Armstrongs coaching. Orono was just a stop for Weis while he tried to get a coaching job at the school where he taught.tonka07 wrote:Todd Weisjahn was the best coach orono had in a while, until he left for armstrong/robbinsdale.

very true colin, armstrong had a knack for helping out in the youth program to develop them for high school.colinschroeder wrote:I'd have to disagree with this statement and say that Kevin Armstrong was a better coach than Weis was. wow you do not know what you are talking about. ya he was an alright coach but his first year of hockey at orono he had the best team ever. a monkey could have sat on the bench and that team would have made it to state. then he left after two whole yearsTodd Weisjahn was the best coach orono had in a while
