Thursday Edina and Roseville meet. Both are ranked in the top 5 and should put on a great show!

This should be a great game. I'm going to go with Roseville.

Roseville VS Edina

this will be a great matchup. Both teams met in a scrimmage earlier in the year, so there will be no surprises come tomorrow night. It would be great to see a big crowd at the Coliseum cheering on both teams.

This matchup is amazing. I hate to pick a team in this one, as these teams match up so well I believe. Should be an amazing game, and truly illustrates how far the girls game has come.

I should add, both these teams scrimmages at the Simley Scrimmage Fest the first Sat of the season. It's immaterial as to who "won" that, but I can tell you that I could see it then that these two teams were going to be some of the best this year even w/o lines/etc. all determined and while playing full rosters, etc.

These teams are scary deep and very talented...

Looks like a tie is in order, by the voting.

Looking at common opponents:

Grand Rapids - Edina won 7-1, Roseville won 6-2
Wayzata - Edina won 3-1, Roseville lost 2-3
Stillwater - Edina won 2-1, Roseville tied 5-5

Overall against these three teams, Edina gave up just 3 goals, while Roseville has given up 10. Edina has a +9 goal differential, Roseville is +3. And with very similar overall SOS rankings (according to KRACH) Edina is 16-0-3 vs. Roseville's 13-3-3. On paper at least I would think Edina has to be favored.

Wish I could see it!

Roseville has yet to defeat a top 10 team, they have tied, Edina has defeated or tied every top 10 team it's played.

Edina 2 1 0 = 3
Roseville 0 0 1 = 2

Correction, Roseville scored in period 3.

Note that ordinarily the scorekeeper or a rink official faxes or calls the score in to the newspapers. I did not see the box score in the Star Tribune this morning so that perhaps did not happen.

So, Edina beats Rosville 3-2 in a great match up, and who does Care 11 highlight on their news cast, Benilde beating up St Louid Park 8-1.

Be happy KARE11 recognized that girls hockey exists. Remember the St. Louis Park ice rink is a whole lot closer to KARE11's studio than the Fairgrounds in St. Paul.

Apparently the Edina-Roseville game results haven't been posted on MaxPreps so the Star Tribune, newspaper of that part of the Twin Cities west of the Mississippi River, is unaware of the results. The Pioneer Press did have a reporter at the game, and a nice article, though with a Roseville slant (e.g. headline was "A Reality Check for Roseville") but that's okay, they're on that other side of the river after all.
