Monticello @ Hopkins 1-20-07
The (11-3-1) Monticello Magic travel to play the Royals of Hopkins (11-4) on Saturday to possibly gain a little respect around the AA community.
One common opponent is Rogers who Monticello tied at 5 in Monticello last night and Hopkins lost 2-5 to in Rogers. Who wins?

IMO if Monty plays like they did last night against Rogers...and Hopkins played they way they did against Rogers.... I would think Monty would win this game by at least the same spread which was 3 goals when Rogers beat them.
But being Hopkins is @ home I think ya give em 1 goal back for home ice so
I'll say Monty by 2

3-3 tie
So I had a conundrum deciding what game to go to today, this one ended up being Plan C as both AHA-HM and the Gophers games were early.
I thought the game started at 7:30 (thanks again MSHS website) so I missed the entire first period but still got my money's worth as the game ended after a furious overtime period in a 3-3 tie.
Michael Fink ended up with a hat trick for Hopkins and was as good as advertised. I didn't see the first two goals, as he scored them in the first period, but the third one came in the 2nd on the powerplay when he made a nice play to keep the puck in the zone and then hammered home a slapshot. He's the kind of player that caused a conundrum for Monticello everytime he touched the puck and they had to make many stalwart defensive plays to keep him off the board in the 3rd and the OT.
Monticello's goalie played well, but Hopkins' goalie let in a soft goal, five hole on a bad angle shot and was a bit nonchalant with the puck right at the end of regulation that could've been serious. I did notice that both Hopkins' goalies are freshman which is very unusual especially considering there's a junior and sophomore on the JV team, so maybe there's some inexperience that came to the fore tonight.
So even though I had to go with Plan C, it was worth the trip.
