Overachieving team that works their butts off - Not the greatest talent, but they take a lot of pride in their game and they never give up.

They will be a very scary team for anyone in D6 to face come playoff time.

As stated before, many very close defeats in their record and they also play in D6

Tonka

Unless they absolutely collapse, they should earn a wildcard playoff berth.

Like I said early in the season, their good, not great.

They have the capability to pull an upset now and then. They will be in most every game. They need to stop falling behind early in games and work with a lead.

Turk182 - unless I'm mistaken, Pioneer had Tonka ranked #21 in his poll on 1-15-07.

They don't have a "BIG GUNNER" that they can depend on to get them the big goal. They are a pretty balanced team. I'd like to see them get a lead in a big game to see how they handle it.

They Are 20-15-2, with 8 1 goal losses. another 2 games they lost by 2 when the other team got an open net goal. So really Tonka isn't that bad. They should be ranked

Whats the deal with them letting up 7 goals to EP Black though? According to EP's website the only other team they scored 7 on, was Waconia. Just seems like a lot of goals given up.

According to "snipe" on page 50 of the Bantam B thread- the score was 7-4 with an empty net goal. I am not on Minnetonka Bantam B1, #17, which means I wasn't playing in the game, and wouldn't know the numbers on the scoreboard after the game was over. Have a nice day!

Poor Imitation, I do not know your background in assessing youth hockey players nor how much you have seen #9 on Minnetonka, or any other youth hockey player, play this year, but I will say that I disagree with your assessment of #9. I have had the opportunity to see him play a few times this year and I believe he is a solid defensemen and on the appropriate team. I would also like to remind you that your comment is cutting down a 14 or 15 year old kid, something a true Minnesota hockey fan would not do. Kids have good games and kids have bad games. This holds true for adults as well. Maybe you witnessed a bad day, but in any case a true Minnesota hockey fan should encourage kids to work hard and have fun playing this great game, not take shots at them on an internet posting.

Just my opinion.

Why don't you stop pretending to be from Edina. I was in the hallway after the Tonka - Moorhead game in Rapids and your team was the one dropping the "f" bombs.

You, your team, and your coaches have a lot of "class".

Good luck in your future.

Sincerely,

Tonka has some skilled players - don't consistently post-up in important games - definitely tough though. Burnsville plays stellar team hockey - lot's of one touch passes and physical enough to deal with the handful of slow and large hitters on the Tonka squad. My call is Burnsville 4-2.

D6 BB1 playoffs

Post by blueblood »

The same could be said of Chaska stringing together 3 straight wins.

The top 3 in D6 are going to have to earn their way into regions without the help of auto bid.

I'm with blueblood on this one -
If positioned in the wildcard section any team (Chaska too and maybe more so) that has to play the extra games before getting to the double elimination round will have a very tough road to go. Chaska is still faced with possible wild card play and could easily faulter in their first game and not even make it to the double elimination round.

It will only be considered an upset win based on seeding rank, but if you have learned anything this year it should be that there is not a lot of difference between #1 and number #8. Overall team or individual talent alone will not win games. Teamwork and tremendous team effort the whole game will win games.

Every team will have a chance to earn their glory on the ice. Tonka has the right skill level, attitude and teamwork to beat over confident, better skilled teams. The big 6-0 victory over Edina Green could also be the mental confidence pill they needed to gain the momentum they were looking for.

All three teams that go to regions will have earned that right. There will be no upsets in D6. If a team wins it is because it was earned the old fashion way. Every team 1-8 will be a tremendous challenge to beat. If you do not believe that, pack your bags now because you will be taking the early bus home from the playoffs

If you do not win the rest of your D6 games Chaska will be faced with the wild card round. It is not where Chaska wants to be positioned
