NO, actually they didn't. They showed up to play.
They let in one goal all weekend losing the championship game today to Brainerd 0-1.
Great effort by both teams.
They beat Owatonna in the first round 8-0 and Lakeville South in a sudden death shootout in the second round.
they came to play. had good play from everyone. and their goalies played phenominal. only 1 goal allowed all weekend. but even if you have the best goaltending in the world, and don't score, you don't have a chance to win a game.
They'll make it into regionals, but probably won't make it out. Brainerd will put up the biggest competition, along with Roseau, Bemidji, and Moorhead.

I think Rapids can beat them all. The question is will they.
The way GR played this past weekend, it's evident they can go on to state if they apply themselves. They still need to play together. No stars on this team, but as a group can go a long way. That's what they need to realize. Depend on each other rather than just themselves and who knows? Goaltending has always been an issue with this group, but is now their strong suit. Both tenders can shut anyone down at any time. Still need work defensively as far as not trying to do too much. Just need to play defense, not try to do all the scoring. Up front, still need to pass more and use each other. All in all, still getting better and their best games are still in front of them.
they should make it to regions but they have their work cut out for them there. a good brainerd team should be comeing out on top. moorhead GR and bemidji are in the race for second
Back on track? Tough to say. After playing like a B-2 team against Virginia, put up a 12 spot against a weak Eveleth team. Juggled lines and better passing looked to pep the boys up a bit. Hopefully sign of better things to come. We'll see tomorrow in a matchup with tough Hermantown.
4-2 GR. Well played game on both sides. GR looked good again and played a full game. Reffing was questionable again, but the boys were able to overcome. Held off a rally late in the 3rd and survived a 6 on 3 for the last 1:40 of regulation. Tied at 1 after 2 periods, it was a pick em sort of game and GR broke it open after Hermantown put the pressure on early. Last 7 minutes belonged to GR. Hope it's a trend. Rematch with Bemidji on Tues. night.
