Multi-School Cities
There are 8 cities in the state that I can find that have multiple schools in the city and thus have 'hindered' their city's ability to be top in certain sports. For example, if Minneapolis made one team for all sports, they would arguably win (or at least do well) state in football and basketball year in and year out. There are cities like that in hockey too. How would they do?

Mpls is an interesting issue to be considered. Sure, if you put one team together next year they would not be the best no question about it. But if you never branched it off into more than 2 schools (used to be just East and West from my understanding) then they probably would've had more participation. If you're going to Washburn (for example) 5 years ago, or know you will, why would you play hockey and be on a team that's going to win 2 games when you could play basketball or swim or any number of other thing, or not even play? If they had stuck with 2 teams, or even brought it to one, they would've probably had much more luck and better programs like that.

Question with this:
If you combine Duluth, Rochester & St. Cloud then technically you won't be using Marshall, Lourdes or Cathedral since they are private schools and have nothing to do with the split.
If you are counting them, then you need to count AHA, Cretin, Hill-Murray, Benilde, Totino, Breck, Blake... and all the other privates schools into the cities in which they belong and then you would have more than 8.
I know the voting will be off because this isn't factored in, but mine goes to Bloomington.

This is really a non-factor since most of these schools have been around a long time and kids have been going to them for tens of years and some 100's of years....Look at all the kids Minneapolis and St.Paul lose kids to; Benilde, Hill-Murray, Cretin, Breck, Blake, etc. Imagine if either of those 2 cities kept all their kids and could put them in 1 program per town.
those must be some dumb kidsZamman wrote:This is really a non-factor since most of these schools have been around a long time and kids have been going to them for tens of years and some 100's of years....Look at all the kids Minneapolis and St.Paul lose kids to; Benilde, Hill-Murray, Cretin, Breck, Blake, etc. Imagine if either of those 2 cities kept all their kids and could put them in 1 program per town.

Yeah, but maybe they would be if there was only one team. Sorry I missed them.
One thing, I wasn't thinking the privates would be included since they are private schools.

Well just based on all the Duluth responses, people are obviously thinking that way. No way do they think that Denfeld combined with East is that goodHShockeywatcher wrote:Yeah, but maybe they would be if there was only one team. Sorry I missed them.
