My prediction was Cloquet 4-1. I was disappointed that it took to the 3rd period before Cloquet showed their game. I thought Tyler Johnson would be much more of a force too. But Edina was really up for this game. The Hornets have a nice combination of speed and size.
It was funny to see the Edina parent attitude drift down to their boys on the ice.

I got it right too, Zamman summed things up pretty well. Tyler Johnson was a non-factor until the 3rd period and Ellingson kept the Jacks in the game. There were two called off goals for Edina, both I thought were the right call because I heard the whistle before the puck went in each time. For the first two periods Edina just looked quicker and slicker than the 'Jacks but Cloquet came on pretty strong in the 3rd.

Both teams got shorthanded goals in the 2nd, the penalty calls against the respective teams seemed to fire up them up so the shorthanded team turned it up a notch. Overall, a really fun game to watch, very intense.

You're right about the two goals that were disallowed. The first one (at the end of the first period) was questionable on whether it even went in because the net came off at the same time and everything but the 2nd one (end of the 2nd) was forsure a goal but the ref blew the whistle because he lost the puck. Ellingson never had the puck and it should've been a goal but it happens.

reber
everson
budish
for edina

i don't think there will be a let down, there was so much emotion last night that i think it might carry over,
+ minnetonka's rated about 12 so they are pretty good and i hope edina's not underrating them.
giles might be able to help the emotion carry over because of his NHL background

Not to make excuses, but CEC was without 3 of their forwards due to injury...

Really hurt their chemistry switching lines around & having to pull up JV players for a game like this. JV guy's did a great job stepping up... Edina can fly though. And their PP is the best I've seen.

Cloquet shouldn't hang their heads too low after this loss. When you consider they were without one of their top line forwards and were (in my opinion) completely out played for two periods, a one goal loss to a top 3 team isn't all that bad. Much of the credit has to go to Reid Ellingson for keeping the game as close as it was. It would be interesting to see a healthy Cloquet vs Edina in a re-match.
