Even bigger classy move by the Farmington coach!!
I cannot say anything about the switch up in the penalty box, but the coach of the Farmington team is even more classless for his slanderous comment in the article -
I know I will get slammed on this as I am a huge AHA supporter. Maybe AHA deserved another penalty for the switch, but this coach is way out of line for his comments.Even

This is a little worse and shows how classless that he is. Maybe the MSHSL should look a little closer to this than a switching in the box.“No victory is sweeter than one over the holy rolling recruiting machine,” coach Keith Revels said.

For some reason this does not suprise me!classyholyangels wrote:This is just another classy move that this team has pulled over the years. The private school administrator shouldn't be to happy with the sportsmanship from the coaches on this move.
Something by the MSHSL should be done!
Too often Winning is put ahead of true sportsmanship.
And even tho you might win the game, you lose the the respect for the game.
ATTN: AHA AD, How about a reprimand for that coach and the team!
Shame Shame!
While the comment that the Farmington coach stated was probably not the classiest thing,Zamman wrote:Hey Farmington AD, look at your coaching staff and reprimand for making slanderous comments to the newspaper......
It is his right to free speech!
As far as the AHA coach’s actions, that was atrocious and undermines the game and system.
There is no way that the coach or his players did not know that what they were doing was wrong!
And to try to steer the blame to the other coach for speaking up is nothing more than a politician’s type of a move.
It is the coach’s responsibility!Zamman wrote:How do you know that it was the AHA coach?
And free speach does not give you the right to slander someone, especially a bunch of high school kids......
And if it does, then the gloves will come off and there will be a lot of penalties handed out!
And if the coach did not know, like you think. Then maybe he should hold the girls that switched and the one in the box responsible for trying to cheat.
It takes years to build a good reputation and only minutes to destroy it!
The coaches and players should have waited till the Puck was dropped or the Player in question stepped on the ice. Then the officials would have had to make a ruling. If the clock isn't running the officials can't make a call.
Player steps on the Ice - The call is ------ penalty "too many players on the ice, the player in question is stills responsible to sit out the time allotted for the penality called. Doesn't matter who is sitting in the penalty box (wrong number or not).

xk1 - we agree here (uh who would oh thunk) since many stories have more than one side to them, however it is very unusual and highly suspicious that a mishap like this could really occur without one of the coaches knowing about it and a number like 11 was chosen (18 maybe would have been a better choice). Maybe we are not giving AHA players enough credit for being creative? But we don't know all the facts so....
ice29 - so an unsportsmanlike penalty can not be called during a stoppage of play? Much like a coach/referee discussion during a stoppage that turns into a heated discussion resulting in a bench penalty. Doesn't the referee's authority extend from when they step on the ice until they leave the ice? If they can call a penalty, but did not, maybe they didn't think there was any intent and it was more innocent than it seemed.
Zamman - it was a classless statement made by an exuberant coach and takes away from the victory, however it is not a slanderous statement if there is any truth to the recruitment allegation. Maybe he spoke the typically "unspoken truth"

I'd like to add that in a month, game scores and records aren't going to mean as much as how the players felt about how they played the game. What Player would want to remember that it was less than an honorable win?hockeya1a wrote: It takes years to build a good reputation and only minutes to destroy it!
I'm with Zamman 100% on this one. The penalty box switcheroo is something you can imagine old-time coaches (think Glen Sonmor) pulling with a wink and a nod. It's almost kind of funny.
But the Farmington coach ripping another school in the newspaper is bush league and unprofessional. He's making an unsubstantiated charge about recruiting and mocking the religious affiliation of AHA in public, in front of God & everybody, including his players. Very small-town. If I knew absolutely nothing about either program but what occurred in this story, I'd have no problem having my daughter play for the AHA coach, but I'd no way have her put up with the petty attitude of the Farmington clown.

Not to change the subject, but this kind of fits the spirit of the thread. Last night in the Roseville-CDH game there was an honest-to-goodness fight. Two different twosomes paired off and many punches were thrown (gloves on). Apparently it started with a slash at the goalie, since CDH got an extra 2:00 for that one. I mention it because it's the first time I've seen one like this in three+ years of watching Girls HS hockey. BTW, my young daughter was delighted by it.
Roseville's going to miss Erin Cody for the Stillwater game.

Bensonmum is right in the example if the spirit of this thread is bad sportsmanship; which I NEVER think is even close to being funny. If I knew nothing about either team and had to pick one for MY daughter, it wouldn't be the one where I would question if we won fairly every game. I wouldn't want my kids to be associated with someone that felt winning at any cost is worth it. These are impressionble kids, afterall, and I don't want to have to deal with them as dishonest adults in our society.

RE: AHA/Farm
Regarding this event, a full report has been filed with the MSHSL, and there are some key details that were left out by the farmingon paper/person who started this thread. I'm guessing that once the MSHSL reviews all the info they have been given no penalties will be handed down.

c'mon
so is protecting your goalie from a slash/injury considered a positive or a negative for Ms. Hockey? or protecting yourself from a defenseman?
I don't think it should matter one iota - and I am confident that the Mr. Hockey candidates and finalists have been in front of the net tussles more often than the girls
