Rochester Century vs Rochester Lourdes

Post by HShockey2180 »

Word around Rochester is that Century and Lourdes are playing this thursday. I never thought Century would agree to it, but can anyone confirm this. On both teams schedules only the JV game is listed? Anyone know any more about this?

No Varsity! Before the season Lourdes agreed to play Century but Century coach wouldn't sign a two year contract to play each other.

Of course Lourdes wants to do it, they really have nothing to lose after all, they are A, not AA

Plus they would love to show Century that Bahneman was the best of that Bantam group right?

I'm wondering why they would decide against it? Any particular reason that anyone knows of?

No idea. Only thing I can think of is them not wanting to lose against a single A team. But thats just my thought on it.

Isn't there a limited number of games a team can play in a season? Who would Century drop and how would that help anyone?

By looking at their schedules I see they both only have 24 games on the schedule. Which means they could each play one more game.

It would be a good game and could go either way. I don't know why anyone would worry about playing a single A team and potentially losing ...it happens all the time in the twin cities....plus didn't Mayo just get shelled by Hibbing and Virginia. The AA vs A doesn't hold up........it's more about coaching guts than anything else.
and the theory of Lourdes has nothing to lose is BS....some of the kids playing for Lourdes have or would have played for the public schools. They don't want to have these kids on their team and then lose to the team that they could have been playing for.....duhhhh

Actually mayo was up 2-1 against hibbing going into the 3rd and eventually lost 4-2. So no not shelled in that one

century would beat lourdes hands down not cause of lourdes team they have a good group of players but lourdes goalies are not good at all and i know centurys goalies have struggled but with amundson out for lourdes i think century has more depth then lourdes i would take century 5-2 if they played this year
