Katoguy. Agree with you on the part that they have had zero goaltending this year. Question for them is where are they going to find one for the future. Neither of the bantam A goalies are from the East side. Also, you talk about all these young freshman playing Varsity and that East will be so good in the next couple years. Well of all the freshman that skipped there last year of Bantams (8-10) of them I think, 2 or 3 of them would have made the bantam A team the rest would have been Bantam B's. I think the new young coach sold the parents a false bill of goods by convincing all of these kids to move up. Heck, I've watched a couple games where these kids did not play JV, suited up for Varsity and never saw the ice. Good for development heh.
Just my opinion
Just my opinion
First of all I never said they would be SO good. Look at the rest of the section I think it will be hard for them not to be in the top 4-5 teams. And I don't know about only 2 or 3 of them making the bantam A team because I have seen the bantam A team play and they are not very strong at all so I think at least 5 of them would be on the team. Bottom line is there are only 2 very good seniors playing right now that they are gonna lose for next year so if the goaltending can even get up to average they will be much better next year. But I do agree with you that I have no idea where they are gonna get a goalie from so they are gonna have to count on one of the 3 improving a ton over the summer.
Ok. Let's look at the facts. True East has no goaltending and none coming up. Im pretty sure that the other teams in the section have goalies coming up. East has no discipline. From what I hear is partly because the players don't really respect the coach and they all think that they are big tough guys. As far as development the players are one the ice almost everyday practicing on the Varsity team. Now I know that Bugsy will agree with me that practice is where a kid improves the most. I do think that there is a chance that one of the Bantam A goalies will transfer to east but it is not likely. From what I heat from a player on their team they are both thinking of moving up because west has 3 goalies next year

marshall ice
did everyone know that when teams play in marshall that each team plays on a different sheet of ice. i hear they make the visiting teams ice rough and bumpy, and marshall's is smooth as glass. oh yeah, the ice conditions are the same for both teams. good excuse bombsquad. what's going to be new ulm's excuse when they get housed next thursday.

Re: marshall ice
Albert Lea's ice sucks on a daily basis, so this won't be a problem today for them.Barry McConell wrote:did everyone know that when teams play in marshall that each team plays on a different sheet of ice. i hear they make the visiting teams ice rough and bumpy, and marshall's is smooth as glass. oh yeah, the ice conditions are the same for both teams. good excuse bombsquad. what's going to be new ulm's excuse when they get housed next thursday.
Prediction:
Albert Lea 5

AL/Marshall
Albert Lea 4, Marshall 3 OT
1-0 Marshall after 1, 3-3 after 2, scoreless 3rd. AL notched a PP goal a couple minutes into OT. Pretty even first AL had a little edge in shots, 2nd was all AL putting up about 15 shots after Marshall went ahead 3-1 after putting up two goals on the PP early in the period. In the 3rd Marshall controlled the play and had more chances to put the game away. Shots were around 32-23 or so for AL. Refs called very little I think 4 penalties in the game, the refs let them play. I see these two teams meeting up again in sections.

To settle this East goaltending situation, they have 1 decent goalie who's only a junior. Miller's stats aren't that good because he played against the ranked teams at the start and never played varsity until this year. He hasn't played the past four weeks because of a groin injury i guess and Wasinger and Dickinson hasn't stepped up to fill Miller's spot. All 3 goalies are going to be back next year, and with all the new freshmen with a year of varsity/JV experience next year, East will be much better and HOPEFULLY much more disciplined
East
Well I hope you guys are right on one of the goalies going to east. It would really make no sense for either of them to go to west because I think bruggeman has that job on lockdown for the next couple of years. And any time this year you saw east with decent goaltending I must have missed it because they have been consistantly brutal. Just to add to this whole subject, East and Owatonna played just the other night... the shots after two periods were 20-20... East was losing 8-0

Re: East
With the new MSHSL transfer rules and the old rules currently in place, without having filed an open enrollment application before January 1, how can these goalies choose to go to East instead of West without sitting out.katoguy wrote:Well I hope you guys are right on one of the goalies going to east. Does mankato have the same rules that Rochester and Duluth, that is, the only way you can attend a different school than the one you currently must due to boundries, you must physically move where you live.
i disagree with those of u who think that out of the 8-10 east freshman only 3 would make bantam A
Gauranteed that at least 6-7 of them would have without a doubt made the A team. I could EASILY name all seven of them right now.
if easts goaltending problem is solved, they will be a GREAT team within the next 3 years.
P.S. in there top two lines, there is 4 freshman... sounds like a promising young group of kids.

NU beat Praire center and lost 3-0 to Shattuck AAA team.
NU 3 Marshall 1
The only teams to score 5 or more goals on NU this year have been Rochester Lourdes, Duluth Marshall, and New Prague all ranked top 10. Good D and a good goalie. I don't think Marshall is in the same class as these teams to score 5 on them.
