It was a great game to watch!
Spent the 3rd period of the JV game chattin' with Jack Hanna and I
think I threw him off just enough to pull the victory!
Nice young man Jack is, and a fine netminder at that!
Got a kick out of Jordan Singers (#12) play too!
The guy's got some play in him as does the rest of Centennials team!
The Spuds did some fine penalty kills throughout, especially when they were down against a 5 on 3 that Centennial failed to take advantage of!
It was a dogfight in the 3rd!

Re: FINAL SCORE
They both need to make it there first. They both should on paper, but that is not a given. Roso has had a history of having the overconfidence gremlins in the past and losing in the region whne they should have won on papaer - '89 comes to mind. Moorhead should have won last year- on paper.RamFan2010! wrote:Uh you dont think i know that?? haha.... I was just saying that not everyone goes there for a loss and that the COurgars obviously put up a good fight... also that happened last year too and the Rams came back and beat the Spuds 4-0.... they must have had too much of a big head goign into the game (spuds did)... I guess we'll all see at the mini Ralph which team can hold there own when they are put up against each other one final time!!!quickgym guy wrote:They beat the Rams twice this year...RamFan2010! wrote: ~ nice to to see that the Cougars put up a good fight....Moorhead doesnt scare everyone.... too bad they dint win though!!!~

Pat Deitz took his time. The Moorhead senior knew this was too good of a chance to screw up.
The Spuds forward patiently buried a goal early in the third period, giving Moorhead a 3-2 victory over Centennial on Saturday in front of a raucous crowd at Moorhead Sports Center.
“I knew I had a lot of time, so I wanted to make sure where the opening was,” Deitz said. “I found it and I hit it.”
With the score tied, Deitz’s linemate Devin Nitzkorski had the puck and a pair of Centennial defenders harassing him.
Nitzkorski passed between them to Deitz – whose defender broke to the puck, leaving Deitz all alone in front of the net.

Deitz paused for an instant and collected the puck before drilling it into the left side of the net.
“That was a good play, and I thought Pat was going to be tied up,” Spuds coach Dave Morinville said. “He got away from the guy and made a good play.”
Second-ranked Moorhead (17-1-1) avenged its only loss of the season. Centennial beat the Spuds 4-3 in the first round of the Schwan Cup on Dec. 26 in Blaine, Minn.
“We definitely talked about that,” Deitz said. “We didn’t play as well as we wanted to, but we still battled hard and got this win.”
A sluggish start stung Moorhead, as Malcolm Richards scored just 1 minute, 20 seconds into the game for the Cougars.
The game was tied 1-1 entering the second period however, thanks to a great goal from Jordy Christian.
Christian, the Spuds’ leading scorer, and John Lee skated in alone on the Centennial net. Cougars goaltender Jack Hanna cheated just a bit to cut off the pass, and Christian snapped the puck by Hanna on the short side.
“He was anticipating the pass and instead Jordy fires it and embarrasses the goalie,” Morinville said. “He’s got such a quick release. He catches a lot of people off guard.”
Christian also set up a short-handed goal by Nick Thielen at the 12:03 mark of the second to make it 2-1, but Centennial’s Tyler Pitlick scored a power-play goal just 2:27 later to tie it up again.
The score stayed 2-2 until Deitz’s calm heroics came early in the final stanza.
“That was a big goal,” Deitz said. “We needed something, and that got the momentum back on our side.”
Deitz’s goal came early, but it was enough to carry the Spuds to their fifth victory in a row. Moorhead is unbeaten in its last 10 games.
“Centennial is a good, solid defensive team,” Morinville said. “You aren’t going to blow them out. We didn’t play our best hockey, but we did enough to win.”
FIRST PERIOD: 1, C, Richards (Pitlick), 1:20. 2, M, Christian (J. Lee), 11:36.
SECOND PERIOD: 3, M, Thielen (Christian), 12:03 (sh). 4, C, Pitlick (Singer), 14:30 (pp).
THIRD PERIOD: 5, M, Deitz (Nitzkorski), 1:25.
SAVES: C, Hanna 12-8-4—24. M, Duncan 7-5-8—12.

I don't know what your basing this off of - the Centennial fans cheered just as loud as the spud fans, despite being outnumbered. They also showed class, unlike the moorhead fans. Overrated Lee was talking trash the whole game. Players were spat on after the game by 40 year men, and the fans were taunted by the swarms of 6 year olds running around the rink giving us the finger and telling us to F off. Guess the moorhead players learn early how to act....big_thurst wrote: Don't know about on ice, but no need to worry about the stands... The Centennial fans are panzy's and theres like 5 of them.

Wow, I've never read such a load of BS. As one who's been to as many games at the MSC in the last 5 years as the next guy... First of all... there's no way the centennial fans cheered anywhere near as loud. Second, In my experience, Centennial fans.... not the classiest. Two years ago one of my classmates was running a flag around the arena after the spuds scored, and he was pushed into the glass by a centennial student as he ran past. Lastly, your description of the citizens of Moorhead greatly offends me. Yeah... John Lee talks alot... that's his personality... but you know what, whether you like it or not, he is one of the better defensemen in the game today. I am also very skeptical towards your sccusations of spitting by 40 year old men, and the bird flipping from children. That just doesn't happen. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the game(or the outcome of the game maybe, who knows?) but you have no right to speak such slanderous words.

I cannot speak for fans in the past, but I can speak for the fan section this year and say that we wouldn't conduct ourselves in such a way. I was disappointed that the team I was chearing for lost, but hold no grudge against moorhead or their hockey team. The claims I made were true. I witnessed young children swearing and giving rude gestures to the student section and was told by a friend about the spitting, and assumed he was telling the truth. Why would I make something like that up?
the flippinf off and swearing from the kids are not lies they were true.
i was there.
we even got in trouble for standing and cheering in the game. the police told us to sit down or we had to leave the game. when we asked why we couldnt cheer and stand it was because we didnt have a student section.
so hopefully next game they will build one.
p.s. talk about home town refs!
