D6 BANTAM A PLAYOFFS

Post by shoot to thrill »

Based on the big win by Minnetonka the D6 standings for playoffs are taking shape. It looks like the following seeding should take place:

1 - Eden Prairie (only need 1 pt in game against Shakopee to get #1 seed)
2 - Edina (loss to EP sealed their fate to #2 seed)
3 - Chaska (w/Jefferson loss to Tonka, they secure 3rd seed)
4 - Minnetonka (if they can beat AV they should win tiebreaker over Jefferson)
5 - Jefferson (still have a shot at 4 spot w/victory over Shakopee but now a likely 5th seed)
6 - Burnsville (will probably end up w/better record then Chaska or Tonka but HEP points cost them & they drop to 6th seed and have to play wildcard game)
7 - Apple Valley (secured 7th seed long ago)
8 - Shakopee (only need to earn 1 point in last 2 games to secure final playoff spot)

OUT = Prior Lake, Eastview, Kennedy

If it all goes this way, Burnsville likely plays AV with the winner playing Tonka to get a shot at EP. Jefferson plays Chaska with winner playing Edina.

Thoughts on the results if this plays out??

Eden Prairie and Edina each get a bye one the first game, meaning that they would only have to win their first game and they are already automatically in Regions. My guess is that we will end up seeing these two teams in the District Championship on Saturday.

The third team coming out of district 6 that will go to regions is Jefferson. This guess could easily be wronged if Chaska ends up winning, but in my perspective, Jefferson is the better hockey team all around.

According to D6 website, Chaska is 10-6 having lost to Eastview 2-9. I can't believe that that is correct but if it is then this is wrong and Jefferson or Minnetonka have a chance at 3rd still. Also, Eden Prairie has to win their last game against Shakopee in order to get there. They are 2 back not 1.

Don't know why D6 has it that way but I think it is wrong. Chaska's team site shows score of 9-2 with Chaska winning and having a record of 11-5. I wonder if D6 has it backward...any Chaska or Eastview kids who can confirm who won?

Predictions are that AV will beat Shakopee in wildcard game but lose to Burnsville in second game. That would mean Burnsville plays Minnetonka which should be a good game because they tied in their only league game and Minnetonka is playing well right now. The winner of that game would play EP.

Chaska plays Jefferson in other half of bracket and even though Chaska is #3 seed due to HEP points, Jefferson should win that game (HEP points mean nothing in playoffs). Jefferson would play Edina next. Odds are that when it is all done EP, Edina and Jefferson come out of district but BV or Minnetonka are longshots to pull off an upset and take the 3rd spot.
