Extra sections brackets

Post by HShockeywatcher »

They wouldn't allow for more people to go to state, but it be a nice addition to have a 3rd place section game or a consolation bracket?

On the one hand, no, because then people could end the season on a win, whereas now only the State champ can.
On the other hand, when you go watch sections, for all the nights but the final (usually) there are two games. This would make for more games and possibly more attendance.

I don't think any team would care if they won 3rd place in sectionals. 1st is the only place that matters.

Not everyone can be a winner.

Two things. Not saying I'm right (probably not) but why play these extra games at state? In track, for example, they give 3rd place in sections.

I think it is very unique to only have one team to end the season with their last game being a win. Aside from that reason, I think it would be nice.

I just find it interesting that the tournament we have that hasn't seeded (state) we play all the way out to a consolation bracket even and the tournaments we have that have been seeded for a while (sections) we don't. Seems like it should be the other way around.

There isn't a seperate meet for 3rd in track though

Yet another rippable post. I hope you don't picth for the Cadets baseball squad because you sure do serve up meatballs for all your critics. Do you read your posts before you submit? At least try and say them out loud first. You make STA look ridiculous and open to even more ridicule then we already receive.

At state, everyone is guaranteed 2 games to make it "worth while" for fans to make the trek to the Twin Cities, get hotels, and enjoy themselves.

Sections are "local" and not on consecutive nights. Third place games more often than not would be absolutely brutal. Only someone who has never played the game could envision anything positive coming from third place or losers bracket games. The rest of us know better.

ER is right. I am new to posting but have lurked for quite a while. Just couldn't take his posts anymore. Someone needs to invite him out of the basement and pay a little more attention to him. He is embarrassing himself and his school.

Trust me Neut, this is the first time in many years. I'm kinda scared though because tomorrow will probably be the exact opposite.

You probably still are right, but once that Single Life ends, our vote no longer counts :)
