Both
Casanova has experience what not winnning big games  The first year AL went to state Even Long was the goalie for the section champ..the second year AL had their best team ever and they could of had a tutor shooter in net...last year they lost... great experience there.. plus the senior goalie didn't even get to play the last game and he was clearly the better goalie...now this year they're going to bench the best ranked goalie in the Big 9...and go with experience......What eperience? Thats what I ask.......

Do you think thats because of his experience or that hes the 1# goalie? Haha Neither.....AL screwed again this year..... :P

AL- 2
Mayo- 1 OT

Great game to watch. Both goalies played good. Shots favored AL. Casanova solid in the nets. Winning goal was 2 on 1, Walton draws goalie away from net and shoves it to Woodside and he buries it. This should just about settle the best player in the section debate, Walton all the way.

so walton is the best player because he can give his teammate a pass on a two on one? good job walton but anyone on varsity should be able to do that... atleast on a decent team. especially if you're on first line. yes walton is a great player but its too hard to tell who's the best. leivermann, litchfield, anderson, meyer, walton, arendt, klein, or that kid from marshall (sorry about not knowing his name off the top of my head) all could easily be mentioned for the best player in the section by their respective teams and others as well.

Well said ilovelife23. All of those players you mentioned could very well be the best player on the ice during any game. I think the thing that makes it so hard to tell is one game a kid will play out of his head and then will get the praise of the top player in the section. Then if he has a bad game people have that to argue with that he isnt

What do you guys thing about the Faribault @ Mankato West game tomorrow night. Faribault is perfect against 1A teams this year, and could be moved to this section next year.

I think that you guys misunderstood me. I meant that Walton had a great game overall and that should be enough for him to claim that title. It was more of a joke than anything referring to the page before. I know that the previously mentioned players are all great and I would love to have any of them on my team. I think Woodside is really underrated. He always seems to be in the right spot. Not quite as flashy but just as effective.

Fixxer, you are a loser. Way to make a kid feel good about himself! Im not gonna say one or the other is the better goalie, but Casanova has been here, helped 2 AL teams get to state and definitly has experience. He hasnt played bad all year and has proven solid. Waalkens is also a great goalie, but still has another year to go.

I saw an albert lea game and number 30 started the game and got 3scored
on him 2 of which were totally lame goals and then they put in casanova and he shut down the rest of the game and Al won. Casanova is the better goalie

Yes, Casanova cleaned up for Waalkens in the Marshall game.

Facts are wrong in the earlier post about Casanova.

Casanova was the goalie all through playoffs as a 9th grader, including the section final. Long was Long since done on a violation.

Casanova is 3-3 at the big show and 2-0 in section finals. You want experience, tell me a goalie in the section who has a resume like that!

Playoffs should be fun!

From what i have seen Casanova is the better goalie. Waalkens couldn't beat West Casanova beat them. Waalkens couldn't manage to stay in the game against Marshall and Casanova came in and bailed AL out. Nothing against Waalkens just my opinion.

STATE TOURNAMENT.

Post by ZAMBONI »

PUCKHANDLER. The BIG SHOW at the state tournament is class AA. The LITTLE SHOW is class A.

Just think if albert lea would of had evan long in the net the two years they went with the solid team they had. I don't think they would of won the state tournament, but they might of got in the top brackets or at least got 3rd place. Maybe or maybe not.

Nothing against casanova, but the free ride he got them two years was a eye opener for him. They put the puck past him like he was the five hole board. I taped both of the games that he played. Also lets give him credit where credit is due. The last two years he had to earn his way now that the team is not as strong as they were in front of him about three years ago. If he can take that big step then he has earned it.

Just remember one thing, there are two parts to the state tournament. The first part is getting there and the second part is doing some damage by staying in the upper bracket.

ALBERT LEA is the #1 favorite , but can they fight off the pressure this year and get the big win and go to state?

Albert Lea has been playing up and down latley and not as solid as mid season, 2 overtime wins( could of went either way), won against mankato east and austin( two very weak teams) and lost to Rochester Lourdes. This was the same pattern for last year and they were beat out by Marshall. This year will be the test for them in the finals. The semi-finals should be easy for them unless they get upseted.

i agree zamboni... AL did have the same pattern last year, and they did lost in the semi-final against marshall. Could we see this pattern happening again this year? if you do recall they do play marshall in the semi-final this year if both teams pass their quarterfinal game. Let's see if we see a repeat again this year.

my prediction is still AL vs West

11-2 in their last 13 games.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.................up and down?

Losses to Century 5-3(eng) and Lourdes (4-2).

PUCKHANDLER. A loss is a loss, don't make excuses or try to sugar coat it with the score. You win, lose or tie the game. SCORE means nothing unless your in a tournament that is goals for or goals against.
