Told ya to look out for her. Molly scored the game winning goal in the section final Thursday.

Yes, the goalie for Silver Bay is a Soph., her name is Lexi Warneke. She recieved all-state honors last year as a Freshman. An excellent team player and great athlete to coach, she has always stepped-it-up when asked to in a big game.

3 OUTSTANDING Soph D IMHO:

Haller - Ankoa
Romotoski - AHA
Strybricki - Breck

There are others too, but I've seen these three the most and they're impressive to say the least...

I agree with rae. Molly Arola has the skills. She's a great hockey player and a very nice young lady. She's also the niece of former Chicago Blackhawk Tom Peluso and the cousin of Mike Peluso who won the Stanley Cup with New Jersey Devils (both graduates of Greenway HS). I think in total the Peluso family has earned eight D1 scholarships to date, so it will be interesting to see where Molly ends up.

Laura Bellamy, G, Duluth Northern Stars.
Not only is Laura rated the #1 goalie in MN by ESPN, she was also a Wendy High School Heisman finalist.
Couldve committed to UMD but instead decided to go to Harvard for academics.

Dont go by the stats. Laura has played the tougher games. The sophmore is an excellent goalie, but Laura Bellamy will get her game together come Jan and Feb.

Always important to look at which opponents and how many minutes, etc. a goalie is playing against. This is true at almost any level. I've also seen teams pull a top keeper in a blowout in their favor to give a weaker goalie time against what ultimately may be the opposing team's weaker players too by that point so the goalie coming in gets fewer shots and of those less quality scoring chances against while the GAA and Minutes played of the top goalie suffer statistically...

Also - general SOS of team and opponents faced for a goalie plus the quality of the team in front of them... I'm not even certain that some of the best goalies on the best teams are even able to showcase their true talent in games as the team in front of them is that good - but they do get a lot of good chances in practice at least from talented teammates!

against G Saves Shots save %
5 unranked teams 6 62 68 0.911764706
2 ranked 5 30 35 0.857142857

Other goalie G Saves Shots Save %
1 unranked 1 12 13 0.923076923
2 ranked 3 39 42 0.928571429

Goalie 1 faced 2 ranked apponents 5 unranked
Goalie 2 faced 2 ranked apponents and faced 9 more shots against ranked opponents

Granted the two opponents the # 1 faced were suppose to be better teams but less shots were taken.

It just seemed like a free plug in! Sorry!
