Cities teams always do well in this tournament. On the Squirt A side anyways. I don't remember a tournament I have been to when it hasn't been them or the Fargo Flyers (who are good again this year)

On the B side the northern teams usually do well. East Grand Forks and the Grand Forks Blues are pretty tough in the north.

the citie teams arent better than the north. the reason why things go their way is just a matter of odds. look at the tournament teams citie teams out number northern teams 3-1. and than look at the northern teams in the tourney? no grand rapids no hermantown no cloquet 90% of the best teams arent even their. i know that some of the best city teams arent their ethier but alot of there best is. Roseau is probley the best northern team in the tourney and if they loss the north is pretty much done. on the other hand if edina losses you have ep,egan, jefferson, burnsville the list goes on and on with hockey powers in the tourney. roseau has played the flyers 4 times this year and lost twice in overtime. won one in ot and once in regulation 7-4. when you get to the really good teams either one can win any given day when their that close a lucky bounce here or their bam game over. that same policey falls on the city teams they just have more quality teams their to back each other up. odds are one will make it to the final. fargo have the advantage to give themselves (its their tourney) an easy route to the final. i know that already by looking at the top and bottom brackets of the tournament.

Come on guys its SQUIRT hockey. Let the kids go play some games and have fun in the best SQUIRT tourny around. The kids will be as fired up about trading pins as playing hockey. Let them enjoy the expierence and begin their hockey careers. I don't think your going to pick the High School state champs in 2014 from the results of this tourny. I will always remember the good times we had with our boys in Fargo.

indian give it a rest. i am so sick of hearing crap like its only squirt hockey. let me clue you in its only youth hockey period so retire already with the my kids a bantam one step from the nhl additude. its a youth hockey board YOUTH in which lies the squirts not just bantams. if you dont want to discuess squirts goto another thread thats your choice but dont come on here telling people what to talk about. go talk about your bantam b1 player or something.

I'm sure most are either up there or on their way. But the brats and burgers outside the Fargo tourney ...the best! The pin trading is great fun for the kids and for the parents who are posting while you are up there....are you kidding? There is a cold one with your name on it so go find you team's group and enjoy.

Of all the tourneys my kids have been to throughout their youth hockey experience they still talk about the great experience this one was.

Enjoy

Dog,
I was not trying to insult you or squirt hockey. I was just stating that it is what it is. The kids have just as much fun trading pins and swimming in the pool as playing hockey. They are 9 and 10 years old let them be kids.
Lighten up guy its a great tourny and like I said probably the one I remember most.

I, sadly, never got to go to this tourney. The good news was that I did help my association have a chance to go in future years. I have heard for years that this is the most fun tourney for Squirts in the nation. Here is the website. Have a blast!

the tourney

my prediction after extensive on line studies for this tourney is...
wayzata
edina
fargo flyers
eden praire
roseau
not in any order i think one of these teams could win the tourney i know im leaving some out. some of the triple a teams are hard to pridict. the san jose jr sharks have never played in the tourney before but im thinking should be solid.

The out of state teams have not fared well in this tournament before. They are always near the top of the Silver division. Whatever they call the 2 seed from the pools.

I think your predictions are fairly accurate. EGF plays Eagan, does anybody have any information on them?

their tuff i heard through the grape vine that they tied fargo flyers in a scrimmage. however looking at scores from team websites they have lost plenty but mostly to the top teams. probley very similier to woodbury who we have in our pool play. we must be well liked by fargo.. lol

Bad...weather approaching, all teams that are hitting the road to Fargo, drive safely and I too look forward to seeing some Northern Teams---Roseau...looking at a Roseau/Edina semifinal tilt...maybe.

Safe trip and lets remember its squirt hockey so you don't know what kids will decide to show up and play. When the weekend's all done ...maybe stop at Play it Again Sports and pick up that new baseball bat/golf clubs for the 10/11 year old for the summer.

Comments: Woodbury not nearly as good as last year...definitely beatable by anyone.... Eagan...going through a little slump but they have the 3-5 kids that can carry the team and beat anyone. Wayzata, lost to Orono...could be just what the doctor ordered for Wayzata...wake up call, I see they beat Orono 8-1 a month earlier.

Thanks for the posts Watchdog and Waylon

Nothing wrong with talking Squirt hockey or any hockey, thanks for the board

Wayzata beat Roseau in finals 4-3. Final 8 teams were Roseau, EP, Fargo Flyers, Wayzata, Eagan, Des Moine, Highland Hills (CO), Lakeville.
