So much for the theory of Roseville being a top 4 seed at the state tourney...

Good call. If they can get to The Tourney, it could throw a wrench into the seedings. It would probably go AHA, Moorhead/Roseau, Edina, then who becomes 4? Would it be WBL with 10 losses or CDH with a weaker schedule and 5 fewer losses? According to PS2, it would be WBL, but I'd be interested to see who the coaches take.

In the end, it would probably be a wash because #4 would play #5 anyway, so they'd be seeding for the last line change.

#4 vs #5 seed

Post by kickshot »

I don't think there is a #5 seed, aren't the 4 seeded opponents selected by blind draw?

Roseville's top line of Dorr, Wieck, and Mueller was absolutely gased towards the end of the 2nd period and for the rest of the game. Besides this, they were shut down for the entire game. Just a few decent chances (one off a pipe) was all they could muster. This hurt because Roseville's depth also wasn't able to provide any goals..

White Bear simply outplayed the Raiders. Better scoring chances, played the body well, and didn't allow too many great chances. Visich didn't have a ton of shots to worry about, but still played well enough for the win. Another factor that affected Roseville was goaltending. They started their taller goalie (#32) which was a bit of a surprise to me. Were they rotating since they were seniors?

Anyways, hoping for yet another HM/WBL final come Friday...

Whoops. You're correct ... force of habit.

It's no longer a "wash", and I think I'll classify it as a "huge development".

I cant believe the reffing of this game. What a horribly called game. I think the ref was even related to one of the oppossing players! Oh wait- i sound like a WB fan. Let's demonstrate how this is suppossed to be done.

Nice game WB. You came to play the first 2 periods and not just the third. You'll be playing in the section finals because of your efforts. I bid you much success in your journey to and through the X.

Nice season for the Raiders but the hungrier team won this one.

White Bear played Roseville the way they needed to be played all year. They got big saves in the first 5 minutes of the game and Roseville went to crap after that. White Bear dominated besides the first 5 minutes. Great game White Bear.

Also we've gotta wait for all of the sectional finals to be played before we make predictions on the seddings of the state tourney. Anything can happen. Heck White Bear could end up losing in the section final even though they just beat a heck of a team. I think we need to wait until Friday to begin predicting the seeds.

We can always hope but the fans of the orange and black have been consistent all year so I'm not going to hold my breath.

Go Raiders!
From all 3 games I've went to, I think Roseville's fans were much much worse than WBL's. I'm even trying to factor out the fact that I root for wbl, but still, roseville's fans section was chanting stuff even during warm-ups. then their coach yelled at them and they all stopped. i thought it was really funny. And about the penalty thing, i though WBL deserved most of the ones they got, I was just trying to show that I thought that the refs were giving rose a little more slack. Oh and how is outscoring roseville 1-0 not a good period? I dont know any team that wouldn't consider that a good period.

Good observation stealth99--I thought the Rose Top line was done earlier than that though. if you watched Roseville all year you would have noticed that they really only play 2 lines in big games. Yes the third comes out but like tonight only for a few seconds. Rose top line was out for an entire PP and an entire Pk early in the second----It was too much for them--i think they have pretty good coaches but they need to learn how to get the most out of their top players in big games--shorter shifts (and they had many chances to change after whistles) would have kept Dorrs line fresh and able to play at their best !

I thought the difference last night was that Dorr didn't bury his scoring chances and the goaltending. I thought the Raiders let in a couple softies. Johnny Vicvich was great early in the game when the Raiders had the better of the play. White Bear top to bottom played a great game and took away the long breakout pass that Roseville uses so much. They also won most of the battles along the boards.

Taylor Johnson was the best player on the ice last night.

White Bear controlled this game from almost the start. The seemed to know what Roseville was going to do with the puck before Roseville did. Their backchecking was impressive. White Bear's breakout passes were right on the tape. Although Roseville's goaltending wasn't the best, the goose egg on the scoreboard tells the story of the game. White Bear was all over Roseville's forward's and they had very little room to operate. The last two times I've seen White Bear (Cretin and Roseville) they have played extremely well. They could be this year's Cretin.

The key to White Bear winning this game, was simply Johnny making some huge saves in the 1st 5 minutes of the game, bringing his confidance up. In turn bring the entire team's confidance up. I do believe had Johnny not performed the way he did early in the match things may have gone a little different. After the first several saves, the team seamed to light it up and pretty much dominated the rest of the game. Kuddos to Johnny and the rest of the WB team. Way to go Bears!!!!!

I said the same thing about the Stillwater game, and some guy claimed that I was Taylor, shilling for myself. Anyway, I don't know what happened, but he has turned it on in the second half of the season.

Roseville

Post by stpaul »

Agree with WBML that Roseville has crappy students and fans. From watching 3AA games over the years, both Roseville & Centennial fans don't know how to act. They don't show up unless their team is favored to win. When they do, they would rather taunt the other school than cheer for their own. I think the jeers and taunts are fine. 'Warm up the bus', 'hey, hey, good bye', 'public school', etc., etc. are pretty harmless and fun.

5 years ago Roseville's students were awful at the state tournament and acted like idiots as they were losing to Holy Angels in the semis. Since then they have failed to show for section games. This year Roseville is good again, the fans showed up last night, but acted like asses as they lost to WBL. Same with Centennial. 3 years ago as their team won the section, going to their first state tournament, instead of cheering for their players, they were busy doing taunts at HM even while their team was receiving medals. I'm looking for more of the same crap tonight.

At least HM & WBL fans act with a little class. Taunt the other school some but know when to cheer for your team whether they win or lose. Especially at the end of the game. The Roseville fans were leaving last night long before the end. Nice way to congratulate your team at the end of a great season. They should be proud of their SEC Conference Champs.

Did anybody tell Roseville this was a playoff game? And did I read that #23 recently commited to the Gophers? I mean if I'm a stud and I'm going to the Gophers, why not give Gopher fans a reason to be excited? For example, maybe he could have scored a goal, got an assist, worked hard, hit someone, not be the last one up the ice, or simply acted like he wanted to be on the ice.

oh man hahahahahaha!!!! that has to be the funniest thing I've ever heard anyone say did you think of that by yourself you're the first person I've ever heard of point that out, I didn't even realize that they've never made it past the quarters before you pointed it out hahahahahaha comedic genius. trying to make it seem ok that Roseville won't be going to state at least WBL still has a chance to go,but thanks for the laugh, hahahahahaha I'm going to be laughing at that one for awhile almost as long as I'm going to be laughing at Roseville losing to a team they clearly underestimated. you sir are hilarious!

I'm sure all the Roseville players and fans will feel better knowning that WBL has a chance of losing another state quarter final game. Yeah we lost, but at least we don't have to go to state and lose on TV. Ha Ha Ha!!!
I guess the joke is on you WBL.
