Who will be #1 in Class A?
-Pending the fact they make it, aside from being an alumnus, I would put St Thomas at #1, because of their SOS and beating Hill Murray late. But they are a private school, so they may not get the love.
-The only Class A loss Marshall has is to Cathedral. If they make it they will have beat them the second meeting and the one that matters. Also a private school.
-If Hermantown makes it they will be the only undefeated team. They have a weak SOS but did tie a team (Cloquet) that Marshall lost to.
-Hibbing only has Class AA losses and one to Hermantown, but if they make it they will have beaten them.
-Warroad has more history on their shoulders than anyone.
-Orono and New Prague have a slew of bad losses throughout the season.
-Little Falls should get seeded, but #1 is probably not an option.
-If Red Wing makes it, they will have knocked off one of the top teams.

My bad on the tying thing. In Class AA anyone who wins, unless they are paired up against 1AA first, will have to win three good games. In Class A, that is not the case. I'm not going to say the top seed has it easier, but they have it better. There are realistically going to be three contenders (yes, upsets are possible) and that mean the 1 seed has it better off, with probably a realatively easy first game, next probably against Little Falls and then the finals. But if you are the 2 or 3 seed you have to play a tough semifinal and then the final. Just curious if people think Marshall or St Thomas will get it, or if the fact they are private will hold people back from voting for them.
It was said Orono and New Prague have a slew of bad losses throughout the year...
Hmmm...I can't speak for Orono, but let's look at New Prague's six losses:
Two losses to Holy Angels (one in overtime) a AA section finalist
One loss to Orono, a section finalist
One loss to Little Falls, another section finalist
One loss to Red Wing, yet another section finalist.
And one loss to Prior Lake....OK, I'll give you that one, it's a bad loss, even if it's a AA team.
I was unaware that the definition of a "slew of bad losses" was one loss.
No, New Prague wont' be the No. 1 seed, and probably won't be a top four seed, but dont' say we have a "slew of bad losses."

I see it going like this...
1. Saint Thomas Academy - easy choice, must beat Red Wing
2. Hermantown/Hibbing - The winner of this game gets #2
3. Duluth Marshall - easy choice as well, must beat SCC, I dont think they'll have a problem with that personally.
4. Warroad - IF they beat TRF. If they don't, it's a toss up between Totino and Orono.
the rest...
Totino-Grace - 5A Winner
Little Falls - 4A Winner
Albert Lea - 1A Winner
Orono - 6A Winner

I agree also. My question, though, is from what people have always talked about with there being bias in seeding, will St Thomas get the respect they need to get a #1 seed?
Maybe my wording about the losses wasn't the greatest, but being a section finalist doesn't make you a great team. That wasn't the best of your arguments. They got thwomped by a team that lost to Morris/Benson. They could've easily had two losses this season, but screwed that up.

Carefull, you had better not let any LF fans see that. They seem to think their team deserves and has earned a top 4 seed.Mantooth wrote:MNHockey75 wrote:I see it going like this...

I agree with most of that but i'd have to switch Hermantown to #1 and STA to #2. Like boblee says, they're yet to lose and if they beat a team like Hibbing, IMHO they've earned that top seed.
If these teams win...
#1 Hermantown
Toss up between STA and DM for #2 and #3 but personally think it should go to DM
#4 Warroad
This could possible set up a Hermantown vs. Duluth Marshall final. That would be one hell of a game considering how the two played each other earlier in the year and the rivalry between the two. Could get very heated in the Duluth area

Really, pending they all make it there's no difference between #2 and #3, just what time your games are played. The only thing that matters is who's number 1. My opinion:
1. St Thomas - Schedule, beat Hill Murray
2. Hermantown - Schedule, didn't lose
3. Duluth Marshall - Decent results, lost to Cloquet
4. Little Falls - They earned it

I think these seedings are pretty accurate.. Although DM has not at all locked up 2A just yet. If SCC wins I think it will go like this..DmnHawk5 wrote:If these teams win...

As of right now I'm not planning on heading down to the X, but if it's a DM vs Hermantown final, I'll be there.

That's like saying DM should be first because they beat Cretin. Bad logic.HShockeywatcher wrote:Really, pending they all make it there's no difference between #2 and #3, just what time your games are played. The only thing that matters is who's number 1. My opinion:
