Let me ask you something... if you're not interested in what people have to say, why would you start the damn thread?
That makes about as much sense as driving the Blaine bandwagon. By the way, if you're fortunate enough to drive it to The X, you may just want to turn on the hazards and wait in the loading zone... you won't be there long.
I am definately interested in what everyone has to say but I also want to see the opinions backed up with some strong reasoning. Isn't it more interesting for everyone if have a little back and forth. And by the way it's a big bandwagon, we'll save you a spot in the back.
I linked you right to my reasoning... Joe Howe. 1 game into it, I'm not wrong either - yeah, I know, "against ARMSTRONG", but it's a playoff shutout. AHA didn't even shutout Minneapolis friggin' West. I'm not overly confident (against anybody they play), but I picked them early, and I'll stick with them.
And no need to save a spot in the back of the bandwagon for me. Besides, isn't that where the crapper usually is? I have a feeling it will be full of Bengals.

Exactly, Joe Howe is all you need to say to back up Wayzata as a solid sleeper pick. I had them as the 2 seed until a couple late losses. What ticked me off was the guys saying they are just getting hot because they had a big day against Armstrong.

If I were a Wayzata fan, I think I'd have to take the game against Armstrong as a positive sign. They've scored fewer goals against lesser teams all season long.
Another thing that should be considered is Wayzata's schedule. They've played one of the tougher schedules in the metro, if not the state (AHA, Moorhead, HM, Edina - twice), and as far as I can remember, all of those games except HM were within 1 or 2 goals, and they beat Edina. They don't get routed too often.
They don't win very often either . They have played a very tough schedule and that did skew their record and their stats a little. However, I believe they put up 15 shots in the first matchup and Blaine's defense and goaltending has tightened up since then. Howe will be pummeled and I just don't think he will be able to hold off the Bengals all by himself. He will likely make 35-40 saves but the Bengals will find a way to score at least 3. Should be a great game.
I just dont see how Blaine will score 3 goals against Howe. He is just to good and Blaine really hasn't impressed me offensively the couple of times I have seen them play. The Trojan fans get to bust out the seasons over and over rated chants as Blaine's season comes to a end.
Not the best game from the Bengals but a win is a win. Howe looked good but not great. It was very odd to see them miss chances on multiple odd-man rushes and Lynch on a breakaway. Also I was wondering if it is possible to receive a checking from behind on a goalie. #18 from Wayzata laid out Schwartz when he was getting back to the net and somehow avoided the penalty but I was just curious. Their was a number of poor calls/no-calls going both way.

Didn't quite hit the nail on the head with this one...
I must appoligize i didnt give Blaine credit and now I have to eat the bullet. Congrats to Blaine hopefully they can take care of MG/Anoka in the section championship.

Lynch and Baudette saved Blaine's season by stepping up big and knotting the score after two periods..then finishing the job in the third....against the best sophomore goalie in MN. Enough said.
Along the boards a hit like that can be checking from behind on any player including goalies. That open hit probably would've been goalie interference instead ofthe 10&2. Still can't beleive that went uncalled or unseen.
Whenever Wayzata loses, I'm a happy camper. The only reason their youth program does as well as it does is numbers...period. When they get to the high school level where there are factors other than how big your association is, they just can't seem to consistently get over the hump.

They also got pretty lucky when the puck bounced off the glass behind the net, of howe, and in. Without that lucky goal the game wouldve gone into overtime and either team could've won it.

Wayzata had their fair share of bounces as well. Final score is all that counts!

Yea that wouldn't have been from behind it just got me thinking. But how does that not get called? You couldn't miss that no matter how hard you try. Schwartz could have easily been hurt on the play.

Uh.....Eden Prairie? Maple Grove? Minnetonka? Roseville? White Bear Lake? (I'm just getting started.)
I think your comment could probably be applied to a number of associations.
Don't be a Wayzata hater merely and apparently because they have a history of domination over the program you hold dear.
WayOutWest....you are right, there are several other communities who think they've got these great programs and I would suggest it's simply because of their numbers, not because they have anymore talent. Being new to D3 (orono), wayzata doesn't have a history of dominance over us....at least not yet I suppose. All of our levels did very well last year. This year our peewees and bantams really struggled. Our squirts at all levels from A-C have all beaten wayzata teams this year. I'm really not a wayzata hater. Some of us affectionately call them the "evil empire"....it's like playing the russians! I know there are pockets of kids/teams that really enjoy the challenge of facing them. I think for a school as small as orono in numbers, our high school program will continue to benefit from the fact that our youth program plays in a district where they have the fewest numbers. Personally, I would love to see the day where orono could move up and compete at the AA level. Orono plays Wayzata in high school next year...should be interesting.
