Although Marshall is definitely the favorite and the Blake team is maybe not as talented as last year's, I'll go with the upset for a number of reasons. For one, they played the hardest schedule of any of the teams in the single A tournament. Second, this year's team has two lines that actually score, as opposed to last year where they really relied on one line for the most part. Third, their goalie has been playing well. Finally, this time they will benefit from experience at the X, unlike last year.

facts
Minnetonka and Thief River beat Blake early in the year. Blake beat TG twice and split with Breck in a game they dominated and choked late. Blakes two best players were hurt and against Minnetonka the starting goalie let in 4 goals on the first 7 shots. Blake has 5 talented sophmores that get regualr time and 1 sophmore that starts at defense which early in the year was difficult but now they all are playing well. Blake also lost to Woodbury 1-0 in a game where a goal was diss-alowed.7A22A wrote:Common opponents: Breck, TRF, Minnetonka, CDH, TG. Blake either lost to these teams or had a season split. DM only lost to Minnetonka with an EN goal. Meanwhile, Minnetonka beat Blake 7-0. So, I pick DM by 3 goals here.
DM is avery good team but this will be a very good game. The Bears are comming together. Bears win 6-4.

Blake actually beat Totino Grace twice, they didn't split.
As far a common opponents go, I don't think it has all that much relevance. Consider this:
DM beat Breck 4-3, then Blake beat Breck 4-3. By this account Blake would have the advantage. But then Blake lost to Breck 4-3, so now what?
And yes, Minnetonka did beat DM 5-3 and then Blake 7-0, but remember that at this point in the season Blake was 5-5... Other common opponents, such as CDH and TRF, would also seem to give the advantage to DM. But then consider that DM lost to BSM, BSM lost to TG, and Blake beat TG twice. DM also beat BSM though...
The point is that while common opponents can provide some indication of the strength of the teams, it's all going to depend on what team shows up to play. Last year DM showed up during the first period and the Hilltoppers just rode out their advantage despite being outscored 2-1 through the last two periods. As Burnsville proved, any one can be beaten on any day. I'm going to hope Blake learned their lesson last year and shows up to play from the opening face-off.
