What a year for Woodbury... the feel good story of the year in my eyes. Wes Bolin did a great job this year with the royals. Also I'd like to say that Sam Foley the SEN. Goalie is a great person along side a great goalie. I got a chance to talk to him last week and was amazed at his posie and respect the young man has. Unfortunatly i dont see the royals advancing past the Rams.

Rams are tough - Woodbury is probably the cinderella story here but I think it ends on Thursday. Rams are solid all around and have a tournament history from which to draw from.
I am a fan of Section 8, both A and AA - so, could be a bit biased. But, nothing against Woodbury but too much Ram for them to handle.

Northern Pride
I feel for Woodbury, but Roseau is going to dominate this game from opening faceoff til the last buzzer!
Rams fans cannot forget how incredible the feeling was to knock of the Spuds when everyone thought the Spuds would dominate. Saying that, I don't think Roseau (players and fans) should disregard the fact that Woodbury is here and they won't want to keep their bags packed. Roseau still needs to keep their eye on the goal, winning EACH game.
Good luck to both teams! Go RAMS!

I think "we" still have last year in the back of our minds. I doubt the players will forget either...so I don't think many people will underestimate anything this year (I hope not anyway).
I think the last few games of the season, Roseau has really started to come together for the rest of the season....and the win against Moorhead has given this team an added boost. This team will be focused again, starting this week!
Go Rams!

I don't think they have their own web site. However, you can check scores and stats on MaxPreps.com.hockeydad46 wrote:Can anyone help me what is the Woodbury Royals Hockey Website??

It's not how successful a team is, it's how they react to their success. You don't see a lot of people despising the Rams, just their rivals, and that's expected anywhere in the state.oscar wrote:I think it is great to read all the people wishing good luck Woodbury. Not a foul word has been said about them, their team or coach.
How successful does a hockey program have to be before people start despising them and trash talking them?

Statistical favourites Rams Underdog advantage Woodbury
Well if you look at it only on paper ya have to say Roseau in a breeze. However that underdog thing helps Woodbury in that they have no pressure. Everyone expects them to lose. For example today in the STRIB there was a little blurb about Roseau upsetting Moorhead. Well not necessarily an upset in my opinion but if Woodbury would win this one that would definately be an upset.
But the X factor this year is their goaltender Lee. Said it all year he is their X factor and if he plays as he has all year then they will win and make some noise this year.
Goaltending is the key this time of the year. And Lee gives them a chance to win every game. I like Roseau's chances in this game. But never let your guard down and be complacent. Crazier things have happend but just not this time Woodbury. Hope you do well but on the Consolation Bracket Royals.
Go Rams!!

This is taught at a very young age in Roseau, if you loose hold your head high and give that team a handshake for a job well done. If you have ever played hockey for any Roseau team, you have been taught this, Watch the Rams fans this weekend this is why they are not so anoying, Class act going to state, Maybe that is part of why people cheer for them.

Woodbury's best chance would be the 2nd Period, which is historically their worst this season. thats when they let in five on Moorhead. They usually dominate the first coast the second and let the other team back in. Then realize that they might lose and sometimes kick it up a notch in the third. Doesn't always happen, but a definate trend in ram hockey. at this point in the season they need to be focused all three periods, and i think they have been doing that for the most part in the playoffs.JRdeeez wrote:Roseau 4 Woodbury 0
The Royals will come out strong in the first period. The Rams will weather the early storm and shut the door the rest of the game.

Bolin has coached against Roseau before...& won....
This is ancient history but Bolin has faced Roseau, before back in the mid 80's when he coached in Hallock (now Kittson Central). In the 84/85 Section 8 playoffs, the Bolin coached Bears avenged their early season losses (7-2 & 4-2) to the Rams with a 6-4 win over the defending Section 8 champions Roseau. Now as to what this means for tomorrows game, not much except that Bolin knows the type of team that Roseau puts out and understands what this game means to the people of Roseau. He knows what beating a Roseau will do for his program the confidence it would bring for his players. This could be a better match up than some people think. Bolin will have the Royals ready, but I still expect the Rams to pull away with this in the third period.
