Last year JS had two points for the tourney... Highlight goals for sure, but lets be real. STA is a much more balanced this year. I'll take the experience factor here over one person's flash.. If Crandal plays his game STA wins 5-3. Not all of STA's forward are small.... Anders Lee and Larson come to mind.saintpaulhockey wrote:Marshall should be able to take it, STA lacks the gamebreaker like Schroeder to break open a close game. If Marshall takes way space from STA's small quick forwards and play physical they should be in good shape. If STA has time and space to display their passing and puck skills it will be all STA. Has the looks of the classic Northern versus Metro matchup - powerful, physical, defensive tteam versus skilled, quick and deep team. I'll take the northland in this one, as the Hilltoppers will bottle up the cadets and take it 5-3.

obviously a cadetcome on now! im not any way related to Saint Thomas Academy but if you havent noticed there a damn good team. they are more balanced and solid this year. Lee a key factor to the team and Schreiner will put the hurt on marshal. Crandal will bounce back and play out of his mind.

Someone did point out that Schroeder only had two goals in the tourney last year. This is very true. The year before I think he scored more because no one knew about him. He was little and slipped through. Last year everyone was watching out for him. The team is a lot more well rounded this year. There are no clear stars. Yeah, Walters will probably try out for the development team but he is no Schroeder. STA has half a dozen players that can all contribute equally well. Crandall needs to play a much better game to come out with a win. It will be an amazingly close game. I still say STA 5-4 with 2 OT's.
One thing that I think you all are over looking is STA's defense. OUtside of Schriener they did not impress. Vannelli is not his older brother. He makes a lot of dumb passes, two that he turned over in front of the net yesterday, and he also takes stupid penatlies. If STA wants to win this one they better sure up that back line other wise Gooch (sp?) will end the Cadets year

Both strong teams, all of STA came out to play yesterday except for crandall. He did pick hs game up as the game went on with a huge glove save. STA's offense dominated this game tho, and their defense looked a lot better than it has in the past. Duluth only has one good line. With gutch and connoly stepping up. Dano jaques is a very strong defensemen but the others on the blue line can't keep up with STA's depth. STA is playing as a team and if crandall plays well STA will make their return to the big game. Gutch has the power to take over the game and get in crandall's head.
