Effects of Tourneys on Wild

Post by Govs93 »

I don't think I've really ever heard them complain, but I'm not sure the effects of the High School Hockey Tournament and the Final Five are really all that fair to the Wild.

Every year they have to go go on a couple of extended road trips because The X is tied up for 7 days on consecutive weekends. If it wasn't at the end of every season, it's possible that they could make up for the time away, but they're trying to clinch a playoff spot and they have to go to Vancouver/Edmonton/Calgary, back to Minnesota, out to Boston & Buffalo, then back to Vancouver/Edmonton/Calgary. I mean honestly... what other NHL team is asked to do that?

The Hockey Tournament and Final Five are great events that deserved to be played there, but if I were playing for the Wild (yeah right), I'd like to see them put a weekend in between the two.

I remember a few years ago the Wild played Detroit on the Sunday following the tournament. A lot of the people that don't get to the cities very often due to their own hockey schedules stuck around and saw a very good NHL game. Detroit ended up winning in OT. Maybe that is an idea that could be looked at. Have the Wild play on Sunday after the tournament every year.

There has to be a large benefit of having 8 out of your last 9 games at home, wouldn’t you think.

It would not be so bad if we didn’t have to fly to Canada to play every game.

If Pittsburgh moves to Kansas or Las Vegas we cold see a very much improved travel schedule.

GOOD BY Pittsburgh Penguins , Welcome back the Norris Division!!!!!!

Maybe Vegas Tuxedo? Vegas Crap Shooters? Las Wagers?

How about Kansas Tornados? Kansas Prairie Dogs?
