Grand Rapids vs. Edina

Edina is very cocky. I was listening to some coverage on the radio yesterday and the announcer said he was talking to an Edina player on Wednesday and he said the player would remain nameless but I guess the player said it was going to be them and Hill Murray in the championship. Then the announcer went onto say that they could meet in a championship.......the consolation championship. It was very funny. Also, the Edina fans are cocky. When my friends and I came into their student section where our seats were on Thursday night they kept telling us that we should move to some empty seats they pointed out. We told them we paid for these seats and that their parents probably paid for their seats. They also said Reber was going to skate all over Rapids when we told them we were Rapids fans and they claimed they were going to make us regret the seats. How stuck up is that? It was so much fun especially when Rapids kept scoring and won.SFHOCKEYGIRL11 wrote:i love when people beat edina

Edina has a history of being cocky and it bugs me too but I have yet to see them taunt an opposition's bench after they win game like Jensen did. It works both ways and a team shouldn't be judged by the actions of a few. Sportsmanship is a lesson from sports that needs to be impressed on young players.
Yeah I don't agree with what Jensen did but you can't let one little incident ruin it for everyone. Rapids is still my team even if one of their guys acts like fools. It sucks that he did that but thats how things go. I think he gets too fired up.Hockeyguy_27 wrote:Edina is very cocky. There have been a lot of threads from over the top Edina people this season. Lots of cockiness. Often times, attitudes and expressions like that can lead to egg on your face.
Didn't Bud Grant tell his players "act like you have been there" instead of celebrating excessively? Grant was all about excellence and humility. Great lessons can be learned from that.
Congrats Grand Rapids! Good luck in the Championship game.

Something that needs to be understood, is when 18 year old kids talk to adults, they get pressured into saying stupid things. The reporters ask questions to get them in trouble. If an Edina player says he doesn't think they will be in the championship, he will get ripped apart by his teammates for having no confidence. If he says they will win, he will get ripped apart by everyone else. I would choose to have my teammates on my side.dherman8 wrote:Yeah I don't agree with what Jensen did but you can't let one little incident ruin it for everyone. Edina's team is not cocky, their players are kept on a very short leash and are very smart and classy.
Their fans are very cocky. It is mostly a few that make it bad. Not defending what the students did, but it sounds like there was a mix up with Edina's administration, because the students were told that the seats we had would be only students from Edina, so it is more understandable. How did you get your seats?
Sometimes, in the heat of an emotional win, players will get carried away. I think that is what happened to Jensen, and I think that Burnsville probably made some comments to Jensen, after they scored.
Very well put scoreboard. It is true of what you said about the players but there is always a way to show confidence in your team without such a cocky remark. As for the Edina fans, I thought the whole stuck-up thing was a myth until I experienced it myself. My friends and I got the tickets from a scalper.scoreboard33 wrote:Something that needs to be understood, is when 18 year old kids talk to adults, they get pressured into saying stupid things. The Hornets have won 9 Title
Oh wow, now your going by schools. It was the Edina Hornets that won 9 state titles. If you go my the mascot name Hornets you have 9 states championship in hockey. They were Edina and turned into Edina East. Edina West opened up they were the Cougars. They decided to merge the two schools back into Edina and moved to the Edina West building. Edina East just became the community center.Hockeyguy_27 wrote:I just looked it up. Edina East has 3 and Edina has 6.highschoolhockeyfan wrote:9 and you cant take that away from us
If Edina can combine then Jefferson and Kennedy would have about the same amount. Jefferson has 5 and I think Kennedy has 2 or 3!. I'm too tired to look this up. Anyone?
My point is the Hornets have 9 titles. Which means the Cougars have none. Then again If you want to divide it up and go by purely East and West buildings then I have no idea. It is just easier to say the Hornets have 9 titles.
Why don't they just divide it up again then. Lets bring back East and West and see what happens.

The players should have been smarter, but they are 16-,17-,18- years old. I apoligize to you, for the behavior of our fans and I am glad you guys were smart enough to let your teams play do the talking.

It's nice to see the Edina boys on here stop chirpin' a little bit. But great season Edina. A lot of young talent over there. They will continue to be good.
Well we did cheer as loud as we could and rubbed it in a bit due to the arrogance of some of the students next to us. I am sure not all Edina fans are like that but the rather large group we sat by thought they were so cool.scoreboard33 wrote:dherman8 wrote:Very well put scoreboard.
