Can't speak for the masses, but at the time I think the network was strong arming the stripes to keep the game close and keep the TV sets on channel 45.schwang17 wrote:Hermantown marches on, but not without controversy! I thought Hermantown was way offside on that goal they scored. Good game, though. What's the feeling on the "bored" about Warroad's disallowed goal?

Agreed, even as a Hermantown fan, I hate to see a game like this decided around controversy. It just sucks. I have a great deal of respect for both programs and I think this game will be in the minds of warroad players on that team for years to come.SectionFan2 wrote:Not necessarily. Both teams played very well but the refs decided this one today. 2 very bad calls related to goals.
Congrats to Hermantown but it is still a tainted victory.

Minnesota hockey, the sport of 10,000 memories.

You'd probably complain too if you were jipped out of the state championship because the refs don't have their heads on straight.Kandian Klub wrote:Warroad needs to quit whinning about what might have been. They complain all the time
The first controversial replay review WAS a goal. There was no man in the crease, the refs screwed Warroad over there. The second controversial replay review WAS NOT a goal. The Herm. player was practically 4 feet offsides. I think that the MSHSL should be embarassed of the poor reffing and reviewing job done in this game. Absolutely the most pathetic reffing I have ever seen, and much less at the State Tournament?
You're lucky Hermantown, the Warriors had your perfect season. Thank the refs for your spot in the championship game.
ok, here goes..far be it for me
to throw gas on this fire ,BUT i received a phone call from a buddy in grand forks and he said that there was an article in the herald that stated the offical that reveiwed the warroad\hermantown, crease call ,was none other than section 8's own buzzy olson, that CANT be true , anyone else hear \read this?

thats unbeleivable.so you read it also wild...? for a tournement of this magnatude that is extreamely unprofessional, and invites controversy.tom jerome was reffing over the weekend and has allway's been more than fair in every game of mine he has ever reffed, but i certanitly wouldn't expect him to do the roseau game.unreal.....

I was at the game and thought that both teams played great. I only wish the game would have been decided by the players not the refs... The STA and DM game was neck and neck. At least the losers of that game could say they gave it their all and just lost, but warroad's players gave it their all from what i saw and beat H-town's players. To bad refs had to change the potential 4-3 warroad win into a 3-4 H-town victory
oh, sectionfan 2 how the chickens come home to roost!Warroad complaining about a supposed controversial call, how ironic.HAHAHA!As far as a section 8 ref working the replay, probably not agood idea but wouldnt that be more of a gripe for the opposing team other than the section 8 team?I agree with the Hermantown coach on this one seems like replay worked out pretty well.
Replay
Of course he will say it worked out good, it helped them win a game that if it had been played during the regular season he would have lost! Not just in this game but in ALL the games, a and aa the refs missed alot of calls. In the AA title game Roso had to remind the ref he had missed 5 checking from behind calls himself over the tourney, truely a black eye for reffing! Maybe when a kid breaks his neck on a bad check like that the ref will make a good call, cause they sure were unwilling to do it over this tourney
Do you mean if it was played at the gardens it would have been a different outcome. The supposed offsides call wasnt blown dead on the ice.No way on that camera angle could that call be overturned. The man in the crease rule they called that consistantly the same way all tourney.I know you warrior fans our use to getting your own way but get over it the better team won and the results sat proved it .Hermantown state champs-STA7-Warroad 2-

Really? I've seen the tapes, the call seems pretty clear to me. You'd have to be BLIND not to see that the Hermantown player was offsides. As far as the results on Saturday, the defense just wasn't there and Warroad was probably pissed at being shunned from the Championship game when they should have been there. I probably wouldn't play to the best of my ability knowing that the refs would probably just screw you over anyway. If Hermantown was truly 'the better team' as you say, I didn't see it Saturday--they had a significant amount of problems trying to shut down the Warrior offense in the 1st period, while Warroad had the same problems with Hermantown in the 3rd--pretty evenly matched in my eyes.moose jaw wrote:Do you mean if it was played at the gardens it would have been a different outcome. The supposed offsides call wasnt blown dead on the ice.No way on that camera angle could that call be overturned. The man in the crease rule they called that consistantly the same way all tourney.I know you warrior fans our use to getting your own way but get over it the better team won and the results sat proved it .Hermantown state champs-STA7-Warroad 2-
It's funny that you say that the 'Warrior fans are used to getting their way,' because refs are hardly ever pro-Warroad, especially those from Southern MN. Remember the Girls State Hockey tournament last year? Warroad, screwed over by horrible reffing, the goal was made AFTER the whistle--remember that? This year, State tournament, Warroad ousted of the championship by poor calls... and don't even get me started on some of the poor reffing jobs done throughout the regular season.
Whenever a Northern team (like Warroad) travels to and plays a team that's from around the cities, the reffing is always questionable. What do the refs have against the North?

For those of you that keep saying that Krause from Hermantown was offsides- I have one thing to say... go learn how to operate a VCR! You know they make this feature that enables you to look at it frame by frame?
You'll learn that the puck was crossing the blue line and Krause still had his skates on the blue line... it was simultaneous... IF and this is a BIG IF it could be called either way it wasn't called on the ice, and the replay would come out INCONCLUSIVE... it was not even close to being an obvious offside when you take it frame by frame. You'd be stretching real far to try and overturn the call made on the ice.
OH, and someone bring out the MSHSL rulebook section stating whether a video replayed offside that is not called on the ice can overturn a goal.
Obviously, goal "3" for Warroad was reviewed and found Warroad to have a player in the crease. Tough luck, it was a momentum changer, but it wasn't the only game in the tourney this was called by the book.
