Could someone give me a play by play of what franchise did? I actually wasn't at any of the games today (went to the Gopher Final Five game, and had an intense pregame, so couldn't make it). Any way, did the player franchise hit get hurt or what actually happened.

Either way, from the sounds of it, franchise and Chaska made a fool of themselves. But I would still like to know the outcome of the situation.

Okay here's how it went down...After we put 3 goals in on Franchise in about 8 minutes a little scrum started in the corner, some shoving, some pushing someone threw a punch and it erupted. Franchise just skated full speed into the corner, his goalie-stick raised above his head and just started swinging at our players' heads. And the fight lasted for probably 30 seconds, a few of our players skated away because they knew we had to play tomorrow and it left like a 2 on 6 in the corner with franchise and his goalie stick swinging away. That's pretty much the gist of what happened.

As for the player getting hurt, we are pretty sure he is fine, it hit him in the helmet so that absorbed most of the blow but had he hit him 4 inches lower he could have broken his neck.

IGH RED 10 wrote:i'm sorry if you feel that your actions were okay because it brought shame to the entire sport of hockey today. i'm glad you guys like to make fun of the color of my hair saying i can't be any good at hockey but this entire weekend i've kept my mouth shut and i basically proven you wrong with my performance.

woodbury and buffalo tomorrow should be a great matchup, there's not doubt in my mind that both teams could be playing in the championship game tomorrow. good luck to both teams.

tonight when #5 from buffalo came up to me after the game was one of the classiest things i've seen this entire year and i would just like to say thanks to him. it was an amazing game, probably one of our toughest matchups all year long.
Travis you are a class act, best of luck to you and your team today. I for one will stay and watch you after the 3rd place game. I only hope Woodbury can score 7 goals and hold on like you guys.

Boys

Post by SticksandStones »

Congrats to some boys for being the better person, Franchise wanted revenge on IGH after losing to us last year at state, but I guess we won't see that...I personally want to thank some of "my boys" for being the bigger person on here and on the ice, I think my dad would quit coaching if one of his boys disgraced us the way Chaska did, Papa has talked his fair share of crap, but guess what, we ended up where he said we would. He deserves some props some of these Rosemount boys personally got crapped on from their High School. You boys did a GREAT job, and had a GREAT season, it was beyond anything my family could imagine. Woodbury and IGH are representing D8 today, playing for 3rd and for the Championship! Hopefully we'll finally get some respect.
PS. Steichen is "The Junior Gold Boss" and you call him names, and tried to get him down, guess what, so far this tournament he has 7 goals, if anything you gave him more reason to prove you all wrong.
Thanks Wingman, we'll be cheering for you guys today!

IGH-Red.....7
RAVE.........5

Congrats to IGH for a great season and tournament run. It was a great up and down game and a great game to be a part of.

Also, just to make sure everyone knows, Travis (#10) for IGH-Red is a class act in addition to being a great hockey player. He is extremely humble and showed everyone how good of a hockey player he is on the ice and not by talking about how good he was on here. Even when I talked with him after the game on the ice, you could tell how thankful he was to be there and not taking anything for granted.

Congratulations again to IGH-Red, but also to Woodbury for taking 3rd and EP for taking the consolation. Great tournament and season everyone!

First off, congratulations to everyone for some great games at State this past weekend.

Secondly, there is absolutely no excuse for what Franchise did on Saturday. I hope that if he could take it back he would. Unfortunately he can't and he will need to reconcile his actions and apparently learn the hard way how to deal with disappointment and anger issues moving forward.

Fortunately nobody was hurt.

There were many Chaska players and fans thoroughly disgusted, embarassed and angered by the actions of a couple of Chaska players. For that I too apologize along with GAC02. A lot of people have worked hard to make this league a fun and competitive alternative to HS hockey.

On a side note, for those not at the game, the refs lost control of that game very early on when an EP player checked Franchise behind the net. The EP player got a 2 minute minor for goalie interference. I think most would agree it should have been at least a 5 minute penalty. Seconds prior to the "brawl" an EP player landed a flagrant two handed slash to the legs of Chaska's #3. The ref was right there and chose to look the other way.

Again, no excuse for Franchise's subsequent actions, just a little more insight to the tempers on the ice. There were two teams on the ice and a lot of non-calls.

Hopefully everyone has learned from this unfortunate incident.

STATE Tourney

Post by IGHCoach »

I would like to say Congrats to all the team that made State. I have coached for 20 years and this is my second State tourney. Last season we took 3rd place and I thought I would never have a team like that one!! But this season was different and we were only 5-4 on Jan 6. My coaching staff and I talked about what to do and made some changes and after 22 (UNBEATEN) games later we are STATE CHAMPS!!!! 26-4-1 Scott(Rave Coach) you guys had a hell of a season and still are champs to me. It was 2 great teams and only one champ. Rave boys hold your heads up high and be proud of what a great season. IGH-Red boys enjoy this dream of a lifetime and to the 6 underclassman that could come back next season the torch has been past to you guys to get back to State again. I like like to thank all the FANS and parents for there support all season. My asst coaches, my son Brian & Charlie Kovacs for the great job these young coaches do with these boys!! The last thanks goes to my wife Lori and daughter Amy for all they do for the team.

P.S. Daryl Jensen the coach of Rochester Jr Gold B team for 15 years has retired from coaching and I will miss you my friend

The Chaska goalie (franchise) received a match penalty for his actions and it is my understanding that he was suspended earlier this season for skating down the ice a punching the EP goalie, so most likely he will never be allowed to play in a USA Hockey sactioned game again. There will be a hearing based on his weekend actions and because he is a repeat offender, he may not be allowed to play again. Meaning if he decides that he wants to try out for a Junior team (for example, in the MJHL), he will not be allowed.

It wasn't the EP goalie last time. It was a fight against a team from Des Moines in the Ep tournament.

Next time you come out and say things be sure to have your facts strait. This would be my first match penalty because I didn't receive one in the EP tournament.

Well...A match penaty is the highest idiot honor one could receive in USA hockey. Your one of about 5 (if that) in all levels of hockey throughout Minnesota that was tagged with a Match penalty this year. That coupled with your suspension earlier this year, as well as, photos, videos, that the state is sure to watch, and probably about 8 officials and the supervisor of officials witnessed and your chances of playing hockey in Minnesota again are slim to none.

Tell you the truth...Your ass should be charged with assult with a weapon, and you very well may be. Theres no room in hockey or life for thugs like you. I dont think you have hockey to worry about. You probably wont have much time for it with the way your path is taking you.

I know what I did was wrong and I apologize for doing it but I don't think that I should be considered a thug. I've been playing hockey all my life and I have never had any incidents before. People deserve 2nd chances in life. The reason I did it was retaliation from a cheap shot I received earlier in the game from number 16, that doesn't justify my actions at all, just giving a reason to do this. This year I have been checked 10 to 15 times while playing the puck, I just got sick of always getting nailed trying to play the puck. Some of the hits were not purposely but the majority were cheap. And after the kid was put in the penalty box, number 18 walked all the way down the bench and into the penalty to congratulate number 16 in the box. Again I'm sorry for what I did and I disgraced hockey in general but I don't think I should be considered a thug for that. And you cannot judge me as a person for this, you do not know me other than me playing hockey. I'm not a terrible person for this.
