Who do you think will win?
I would put Hermantown, Cathedral, and Denfeld as the frontrunners. Sauk Rapids has had some good teams in the past.

If Drew leaves, it opens things up for Denfeld. They'll have a tough squad next year...assuming Jake Johnson stays. Cathedral and SR, I guess we'll see. Every year doubts are shown, but they usually step up with good clubs.
I think the outlook at SCC is better than the one at SR. They have a couple good young players. At least 3 of their top 5 D will be back. Their most skilled players up front will be back. I just don't know if they'll find the role players to fill in like they did this past year. Hess is gone, replacing him in net will be tough.

At this point in time it's way too hard to tell. It's unknown which players are going to stick around and which ones aren't.. On top of all that matter Hermantown, Denfeld, Cathedral, and Sauk Rapids are all losing their starting goaltenders. I also know that Denfeld is going to need some help on defense just as they did this season. It will be interesting to see how everything pans out..
I'm going to be a lot more update with Cathedral and SR hockey next year though, transferring down to St. Cloud State. I might even have to be a Cathedral and Huskies fan.. Who woulda thunk it!
I have to admit, it's looking like a St. Cloud fan will be a lot better off than a UMD fan.. I'll no longer be cheering for a team in the wcha basement

I don't agree with that, i realize that he has now won a state title, but i still think there is a good chance that he'll come back. Even though he is doing well at Chicago. I just think it will be to hard for drew to leave his senior year and with the all-time points record within 30 pts of his reach, it will be tempting for him to stay.hawkfan70 wrote:now that drew has the hardware, i dont expect to see him back in a hawks sweaterhockey1408 wrote: If drew comes back i would have to go with Hermantown.

Hermantown did not breakdown grades, But must be favorite? Denfeld probly cannot take those transfers like last year with the new rules.
Will Sauk Rapids even have enough kids for a JV program? Top thing is the goalie losses!

Andrew Christianson Senior Forward 36pts
Brett Granmo Senior Forward 8pts
Ryan Schmidt Senior Forward 62pts
Chad Huttel Senior Defense 52pts
Justin Baker Senior Defense 26pts
Mat Solberg Senior Forward 5pts
Tommy Engseth Senior Forward 33pts
Jessup Pelkey Senior Goalie 6-0-0 1.13GAA .931sv pct
Nathan Hardy Senior Goalie 23-0-2 1.87GAA .922sv pct
44-3-2 career (section7hockey.com)
Drew LeBlanc Junior Forward ?? 85pts
The the hawks are losing a ton of talent from this state championship squad
key losses will be LeBlanc (?) Hardy and Huttel
There are some very talented players returning from the varsity line up and i am sure there will be some nice additions from the jv squad that only had i believe 3 losses this year (hopkins, superior&hibbing)
i believe this section will be "up for grabs"

Joining the otherside now are we. I think Drew will stay. Even if he doesn't i hermantown goes to state. Outside of goalie troubles early Hermantown is still returning a lot of "experienced players". Players that have been to state once or twice. As for the other top programs.... I'll make my second guesses when the season comes.hockey1408 wrote:I don't agree with that, i realize that he has now won a state title, but i still think there is a good chance that he'll come back. There isn't any reason for LeBlanc to not go. He really won't develop much more playing high school hockey and he has already won a state championship.
Nate Schmidt from Cathedral should probably go to advance in his hockey career. But if he wants that state tourney and state championships bad enough, he should stay.
Same could be said for Jake Johnson as Schmidt. If he's got USHL offers, he should go for his own development. Unless he's really targeting that state tourney and championship.

Jake has had offers for the USHL; at least I'd imagine they are pushing for him to go since he was drafted by (correct me if I'm wrong) Sioux City last year..George Blanda wrote:There isn't any reason for LeBlanc to not go.
