Yes, Bemidji beat EP. It was an excellent game Bemidji came out and out skated and out hustled EP and it paid off. Good work Bemidji!

Brainerd also beat EP on day 2. I believe the score was 4-3 OT. I wasn't present for this game but it sounded like another excellent game with Brainerd scoring 2 goals to tie the game and send it into OT with 1:30 left in regulation. Brainerd then scored the game winner 19 seconds into OT.

Maybe a little MAHA hangover for EP?

They looked a little flat to me but every team is beatable on any given day. You have to come to play every game.

Come on SunDoggie1, "out skated and out hustled EP" ?! It was a nice game by Bemidji but 11 penalties in the first two periods by EP and 40 saves by the outstanding Bemidji goalie had more to do with the outcome than anything.

BTW, great job by the Bemidji cheering section. You were awsome at both the MAHA & VFW tourney's.

The number of penalties in the game may be an indicator of the level of frustration the EP players were feeling because of being "out skated and out hustled..." by Bemidji. Great TEAM play (forecheck and backcheck by all three lines) and Great Goalie(s) gave Bemidji the ability to rise to the occasion.

EP certainly had their chances. There is no doubt that the Bemidji goalie played extremely well especially in the 3rd period but EP was already down a goal by then and yes D16dad you are right on. The reason that EP had 11 penalties in the first 2 periods was because they were being out hustled and losing the races to the lose pucks. Most of these penalties were out of frustration. There is no doubt however that EP outskated and outshot Bemidji in the 3rd, they also didn't have as many penalties in the 3rd as a result.

I assume you ment the Bemidji goalie played well SunDoggie1 not the EP goalie. The EP goalie gave up 3 goals on 15 shots and as I recall two of them were wrist shots just inside the blue line as Bemidji was changing lines. Bemidji managed just 4 shots to EP's 13 in the second period despite EP being short handed 6 times. How does this happen if EP was "being out hustled and losing races to loose pucks"?

But you are right about one thing "every team is beatable on any given day". Both Bemidji and Brainerd proved that to EP as they handed them their 3rd and 4th loses of the season. Good job by these Northern teams. But it was also a Great season for the EP Eagles going 54-4-3 with a MAHA State title.

My bad PeskyCardinal, i have edited my post. Yes, I meant to say the Bemidji goalie. I wasn't trying to take anything away from the EP team. Yes, they had an outstanding season. Just giving my perspective of the game that I saw.......

Congratulations to all of the teams that advanced to post season play. It is an honor to even get that far. Only 8 teams in the state advance to MAHA and only 10 teams in the state advance to VFW so that says something about your team by just getting there.
