Not really any contest after this year. Despite all the hype EJ was ordinary.

Goligoski when he was healthy, EJ when he played to his potential, and Vanelli always seemed pretty solid at the line and was a good leader.. it's hard to pick one that stuck out this year

EJ said the coaching staff didn't use him properly. What does he want? He played PP, PK late in games, everything. To me it looked like he knew this was a temporary thing and he was moving on. Kind of like a third place game all season.
I'll go with Gologoski or Vanelli

Yeah I like Goligoski and Vanelli.

Not saying he's bad, but who voted for R.J. Anderson? I also like the way Shack stepped and played really well during Anderson's injury and that is why R.J. played forward in the West Regional, it always seemed like Shack was a lot more sound defensively than R.J.

1. Erik Johnson - Going to be good in the NHL.
2. Alex Goligoski - Gonna be a steady NHLer.
3. R.J. Anderson - Don't know why he doesn't get more ice time, will be a good 4-year college player and has a chance to play in the NHL some day.
4. Mike Vannelli - I Don't get why people think he's so good. Maybe a 7th D-man in NHL.
5. David Fischer - Struggled this year, will get better.
6. Derek Peltier - Awful, WAY too much playing time.
7. Brian O'Neal - I honestly don't think Shaq could walk on at UAA, no offense.

I just noticed that all you people who love Vannelli can't even spell his name right.

2. Mike Vannelli Had a good year
3. EJ way overrated should not hav been number one in draft
4. Derek Peltier
5. Brian Schack only has two less points then R.J. and R.J. has played in 41 more games then schack
6. R.J. Anderson never scored a goal in two years has 10 carrer points
7. David Fischer not very good

He should have, ethier did R.J. and see wut happend to him. Even tho hes straight up from highschool doesnt mean he should play so poorly. Jim OBrien should be a senior in highschool and he did fine this year.

I have to go with Gologoski, personally I think he should of been a Hobey finalist.

Erik Johnson was probably the most OVERRATED player to play at U of M for quite a while. With his size he sure didn't throw his weight around that much and he tried to take WAY too many shots from the point.

He definately didn't look like a #1 draft pick out there on the Mariucci ice sheet.

yes R.J. is the third best defense man on the entire Gopher roster, so good in fact he played fourth line forward in the west regional.

Much appreciated!!!! I myself think i would make a great hockey analyst or coach one day. The next Barry Melrose!!!!

I think the Gophers would be best off if EJ took an early exit from the main U

he turned down the Blues' first offer to finish the season with them, but that doesn't mean a whole lot at this point as they could offer him again after the season sometime.

For those of you that say that Johnson is overrated and shouldn't have been taken #1, I think you're all nuts. He didn't put up the numbers that Vanelli and Goli did obviously. He didn't have as good of a year as the other two guys mentioned, but he has all the tools to be a stud NHL player. He's as good as advertised...if you watched him closely, you could see he has all it takes to warrant that #1 pick. Sure, he didn't dominate...but he was a freshman and still put up some pretty decent numbers for a D-man.

There is a reason why Johnson is rated a 9.0B on Hockey's Future as compared to Goli's 7.5C ranking. Johnson is built better for the NHL game than any other D on their squad.

I agree that Johnson is going to have a solid pro career. I hope he stays for at least 1 more year. He will grow on Gopher fans.
