Did LeCroy get sent down or realeased?

Well, its the same old crap with this Chrisk guy. Has he ever posted anything about a hitter, except for Brett Boone?

If it was up to him, there would be 17 pitchers on the team.

Everybody is all in a tizzy about Silva and Garza and Ponson and the former "real deal" but now "done deal" JD Durbin.

If they would hit the Boofin ball it doesnt matter that much.

I am tired of hearing "Oh , our pitcher gave up 4 runs, what a disaster"

Get some hitters in here and make 4 runs seem like a shutout.

The Tigers got Sheff, but that's about it, they also have two overused arms in Bonderman and Verlander who may take a step back this year. In this case, I would say staying the course isn't such a bad idea.

The Indians didn't stand pat, they turned over 33% of their lineup. We know they added Nixon but they also went out and got Josh Barfield, and David Dellucci. Last July they also made a trade for a prospect in Shin-Soo Choo.

The Sox unloaded salary but you know that means, they can be buyers in July. Though he's was injured last season, the Sox acquiring of Darin Erstad could make their lineup and a their defense a lot grittier, something they need badly.

What did we do to get better? LeCroy, Harvey, and Cirillo.

BB says "the Tigers added Sheff and thats it". Well, that could be huge for them the way Frank was for the As all last season and vs the stand pat, lets get another pitcher like ChrisK says Twins in the playoffs.

BB talks about how some of the Tiger pitchers may fall back. Well dah, BB, thats why they sign Sheff.

What if Santana is a mere 17-10 this season.

If you arent a bit nervous about the Twins rotation , you are living in lala land.

Is Morneau going to hit .320 35Hr and 130 RBI again? Mauer .344?

They better because the Twins have done nothing to help the team win in the event they dont.

So what you're saying packerboy is that we need some hitting?

I don't think Morneau will have quite the season he had last year, I mean he did win the MVP even if it was kind of a weak year. I don't see his numbers falling off too much though. Mauer could hit .344 or better again this year, I think his issue might be staying healthy. These guys are still young, this is only Mauer's third year and Morneau's fourth in the majors, it's not outlandish to speculate that they could equal or even improve on last year's performances.

White should have a better season, he was horrible at the start of last year and I don't see that happening again. Bartlett will be up for the whole year, are we forgetting that he hit over .300 last year? Cirillo doesn't have a lot of pop, but he is a career .298 hitter and hit .316 for the Brewers last year. With Castillo the Twins have one of the better leadoff hitters in the game, as long as he's healthy.

Cuddyer broke through last year but he and Punto are two guys that I think may have trouble repeating last year's success.

The problem last year was that the Twins were a streaky hitting team, they'd pound the heck out of the ball one game, then get shut down by Mark Redmond the next. With the younger players getting another year under their belt they should be more consistent, though I'm sure they'll still have the occasional conundrums with a junkballer or rookie.

They'll still have to pitch the boofin' ball to win.

The Central goes into the season with four solid teams. However, one of these teams will have a disastereous year and not meet expectations for a number of reasons to be identified later. There just isn't room for four teams.

Which Central team will fall on their face this year?
A. Twins
B. Tigers
C. Sox
D. Indians

The Sox showed very little in the way of starting pitching last season, and their bullpen is nothing very exciting either. They'll be able to outslug quite a few teams, but the pitching will bite them in the end.

Govs makes 2007 Minnesota Twins history...

I threw the first opponents HR ball back onto the field (Migues Tejada in the 6th inning).

I kid you not. I don't know if it was shown on tv or not (probably not), but if you see a red "TC" windshirt & red "TC" cap, that's me. Solid arm on that young man in the left field seats. The drunk a-hole running around centerfield in the bottom of the 9th? Not me.

Oh, by the way... nice win for the ballclub. Santana didn't throw particularly well, but the offense looks like it picked right up where it left off last season. Morneausy looked great. Nice to see them pick up the pitching... hopefully that will be an exception, not the rule for this season.

Eh, not a bad arm. Lets see if you can get it back into the infield next time though. And I think that was TomtheBombedout that was running around in center field towards the end of the game. Almost got away

Very good first game for the Twins. Got hits and defense from guys that they probably didn't expect to do much and also hits & d from guys that are expected to deliver. Should be a very exciting year and can't wait for more!

The answer to IS's queston is none of the above.

All of those teams have too much talent to have a real bad year.

Sure, the Sox pitching might not be the best. The Indians have the same issue. But both have enough hitting to keep them well above .500.

Ditto the Tigers and the Twins but because of their pitching.

Right now, I think the Twins and the Tigers have the best balance of what you need to win, including leadership.

It the Twins can get Ponson , Silva, and Ortiz to get them to the sixth, they will be tough to beat every night. Their inconsistency on offense is a concern.

The Tigers will be very difficult to beat with the key addition of Sheff.

If the Sox get any kind of pitching, they can beat on you with their bats.

The Indians can hit and have some guys who can pitch but they continue to be young and promising until they prove they are good.

Its a tough division and the team that wins it will have to be good all year.

I picked up a copy of the "Twins Magazine" at the game last night and I think I found cause for alarm.

On page 87 there is a feature called "Get To Know Your Twins" in which we learn a little about our favorite team off the field. The question "What is your favorite gadget?" was asked. Here are the responses:

Quite honestly... as unappealling as it would seem today, I would much rather do that than sit in the dome for 3 hours. I sit in cold arenas watching hockey, I can sit in the cold for baseball... I've got gloves and a hat!

What they will have to do is schedule the twins so they do not open at home.

They would be on the road for the first 9-10 games and then open here around April 15 when this kind of weather is less likely.

I dont know if they will schedule night games in April or not.

Charley Walters had a column about it in the Pioneer Press today:

"Plans remain to unveil the Twins ballpark stadium design April 12. Weather was a factor in the general design, with fewer open areas on the exterior to block wind and provide as much heat as possible throughout concourse and sheltered areas.

The Twins have been examining prototype heated seats for premium areas.

The field will be heated with an elaborate underground system that will allow early growth of grass in the spring, melt snow quickly, as well as drain from rain better than at Metropolitan Stadium.

The Twins also will request schedule-makers to open the seasons in 2010 and beyond on the road, then return home in mid-April rather than early April."

Makes sense. I would imagine that they'll probably want to try to open the season at home every few years (say 2010?) but in general, it's not a bad idea.

The first week or two of the schedule has always confused me. Most of the teams that opened Monday did not play Tuesday, many teams that played yesterday don't play today. Why are there off days in the middle of a series the first week of the season? Chicago and Cleveland sat around yesterday and wasted a 70 degree day only to play in temps below 35 degrees today.

The weekend forcast for the Twins is awful, I hope the boys can play in 30 degree weather because the 40's aren't happening until next week.
