What the hell kind of question is that? I don't think fighting should be aloud in any level of hockey!!! I think they should even become more strict in the NHL. I have seen tons of fights in every level and its terrible that kids in even peewees are fighting. I dont think fighting should be aloud PERIOD!!! But thats just me. I am the kind of guy who likes watching hockey for the goals, the hard hits, and the sweet saves not to see the fights.

im not sure on how i feel about fights in the nhl, but there shouldn't be any fighting before that. If you could fight in bantams there would be fights every time the goalie covered the puck. Fighting would get real old real fast

i think that they should allow fights in peewees WITH gloves on. The refs spaz if u start punching thye give you a 10 and 2

Very good point. Fighting in the NHL is part of the "show". The NHL is also an entertainment industry and the big boys know how things work. As it was already pointed out, allowing fighting to take place in even Bantams would cause games to take about 3 hours and more players would get hurt as several players wouldn't even know how to fight. It's fine at the NHL because of the code players live by, but not at any youth levels.

That and correct the wording - most fights have some noise associated with them so are "a loud" above the normal level of noise

Ask anybody that has played in the juniors & college and they will tell you that the cheapest league they ever played in was college. The reason? Players weren't allowed to cheapshot each other due to the 'internal policing' that fighting affords in juniors, while at the college level, where the penalty is too great, fighting isn't functional.

I'm not a huge proponent of fighting at any level, but I believe it has it's place. Even though it's illegal, it carries a relatively minor penalization starting at the junior level, and I believe that's the perfect place for it.

I am with you 100%. There is a time and a place for it. If a team knowingly cheapshots a star player in a Juniors game then there is a fight about to take place. It is necessary for message purposes, much like Brad Maye's cheapshot on Johnson last season in the playoffs (just used for an example of a cheapshot taking place), Boogaard eventually got to him and a message was sent. Same things happen in Jr's and occasionally at the college level.

I have a major problem with fighting in HS and youth ranks because that is when the majority of the players are beginning to see/hit their potential. It would drastically stunt the development of players. Shoving matches after a whistle is one thing, dropping hte gloves and stopping play to see or be a part of a scrap is not needed at any level before Jr's.

I guess my other arguement would be this: Are they suppose to take off their helmets with cages on before the fight. Usually a fight is just an escalation of pushing and shoving, so it would be pointless to locker box on the ice.

GUELPH, Ont. - Police in Guelph, Ont., say criminal charges are possible after a brawl at a hockey game involving teams of eight-year-old players.
Six players and two coaches were suspended after Friday's brawl between the Duffield and Niagara Falls novice triple-A teams. Staff Sgt. Neal Young says after a fight broke out between players on the ice, both coaches sent the rest of their players over the boards to join in.

Young also said a member of the Niagara Falls coaching staff is alleged to have spit in the face of a Duffield coach.
Police have acquired video footage from parents who were recording the game and will review the footage to determine whether charges are warranted.
The rest of the Duffield team continued playing in Guelph Power Play Tournament while the Niagara Falls team withdrew and went home early.

I played youth hockey not too long ago and let me tell you that nobody fights in youth hockey anyway. You're saying" are you for real??" yeah I am, is a fight really worth it when you have a padded glove on your hand and you are hitting a face mask????? answer no. One of my last coaches hit it right on the head when he told us the above, he also told us if one guy is in it there'd better be 5 more coming too...........
This said, yes it happened, however the big thing in youth hockey these days, and probably high school is "hitting wars". You all know what that is.

I agree, we should worry about some of the other things that they have taken out of the game, like taging up, first. But I think in high school or college they should allow fighting. One, because the students love it, adn two it brings some energy to the game.
