MAHA State Meeting

Post by elliott70 »

Minnesota Hockey meeting is April 27- 29. Check the Minnesota Hockey web site for agenda.

On Friday night the District Directors meet.
If you have anything you want on the DD agneda meeting please let me know.

Also, feel free to attend.
All committee meetings are open (some personnel and grievance meetings are closed, but those are rare).

And how did Champlin Park get back on the agenda?

Youse guys voted unanimously on that issue at the Winter Meeting in January. Champlin Park appealed the ruling was turned down by the grievance committee. How do they keep bringing this issue up??

To answer the questions or to try

Meeting is at Crown Plaza Hotel in Brooklyn Center.
2200 Freeway Blvd if that helps.

Friday night agenda
7 - 8:30 election interviews
8:30 - 10 Directors meeting including agenda items of
review the new region format
league vs district play
fair play points
Hep program
election of non-DD to the board
at least one other thing that I cannot remember

and since it was brought up here - game limits for all levels.

Whether game limits is on Hockey Ops committee agenda I do not know, but assume it will be at least brought up. but it is not on the agneda to be voted on unless the rules committee has it on their agenda.

The Champlin issue has me for a loss. I thought everyone was in agreement. It went to grievance committee, but somehow was kicked out at the request of someone (not being specific because I do not know all the facts at this time). It was decided by the VP of maroon and gold that the board should hear the grievance since we acted on the original issue in January. So until I hear the issues brought up I do not have nay comment on it.

I feel a discussion about all Districts having the same rules over the uniformity at the levels should be addressed.

For example: District 6 has a rule stating that there shall be no B1-A teams, they shall all remain equal.
Although Eden Prairie had 2 BB1 teams w one of them being made up of mostly 1st years, they did not put all their best players on one team.

Where as Wayzata had 2 PB1-A teams. both of them were in the state finals playing against each other, maybe we should have a seperate tourney for the Districts that do not stack their teams.

I do not want this to turn into a Wayzata bashing, there are other Assoc. that also do this. I would like to see a state wide rule to prevent this, since all the districts cant agree on it together.

Skaters 16-45 were split evenly amongst the 2 Wayzata PW B1 teams. What else would you like to see happen. Are you from the TC District?

I dont know anything about what the metro associations do with their teams but the fact that both Wayzata teams were in the state finals probably proves they didnt stack one. And isnt that what your supposed to do? Pick your best 15 for the A team and your next best 15 for the B1 team?

I think awsome is one of those who thinks everyone should be a winner, dont keep score, and give everyone a medal.

I think you should put a team on the ice have fun and quit whinning.

I think your comment (awesome) would be suited in that some organizations are almost fielding birth year teams disguised under Minnesota hockey guidelines, to try and keep core groups of players playing together like the rest of the country does.

Is it conceivable that Minnesota Hockey someday converts to the birth year system..with strict Major Minor years?

And don't shoot me, I'm just asking a legit question..

Janc...
It is not likely that MN Hockey will convert their age levels.
As of now, youth hockey works in alignment with HS hockey.
2 years of bantams for 8 & 9th graders (not always the case, but predominatley). Then off to JV and then to varsity.
From what I know, no one on the board would support a change to calendar year status as it does not easily flow with what drives hockey in MN - high school.

If you would like the DD's to discuss it I will bring it up.

As far as major (2nd year) and minor (1st year); not possible. Most associations do not have the numbers.

As for the meeting this past weekend.......do you have any further info regarding the Champlin Park issue Mark? The reason I'm asking is it will take awhile for it to filter down from John Perry at D3 to the Association level and then out to the parents from there.....thx!

MN Hocky board resceinded their January vote.

The grievance committee was meeting at 5:00 pm pn Sunday to review the grievance.
I was not at the meeting for the grievance as I am not on that committee and had left for Bemidji.

I am not sure if they making a decision or just listened to the people involved and were going to have discussion and votes on it at a later time.

Jerry DeMeo of Duluth would be the appropriate person to get information from.

I believe both associations were in attendance, the local association President should be able to answer you.
