WILD TOURNAMENT
Is there a U19 Wild tournament this year? I heard there was alot of disgruntled people last year with the schedule.

Re: WILD TOURNAMENT
There is a tourney that same weekend being worked on right now. So far the Walser teams, Blues, U19 IceCats (Burg) are involved. Others may being asked as well. Will likely be played at Super Rink same dates, etc. I'll post more as I hear it...HOCKEYPUCK2 wrote:Is there a U19 Wild tournament this year? I guess you could call it the "U19 Blues Invitational" instead. At this point no Wild team in it but that could change I suppose. The participating teams and format is still being finalized. I understand that this is all being done now and more info. is coming soon. We may even see our first glimpse of the Jr Whitecaps in this event, but that is still just a possibility at this point.trilogy wrote:So, it's a U19 Wild tournament. But there is no 'Wild' team in it?
I don't know the status of the U16 event. It isn't related to the U19. I know that the IceCats have a scrimmage festival at the 16 level this weekend?trilogy wrote:Is there a U16 level in this Wild tournament? There are two U16 Wild teams in the Meltdown.

Sorry - the "this" in my note was meant to mean the same weekend as the "Wild" tourney... So, I assume the IceCats have a U16 Scrimmage fest that Sun - Sun May 20?MNHockeyFan wrote:The Icecats U16 team will be in the Minnesota Meltdown this coming weekend, so no scrimmage festival for this team.ghshockeyfan wrote:I don't know the status of the U16 event. Yes, sorry I misunderstood which Sunday you were referring to - my error. The Icecats U16 will be hosting this scrimmage fest on Sunday May 20th, at Eden Prairie.ghshockeyfan wrote:Sorry - the "this" in my note was meant to mean the same weekend as the "Wild" tourney... I see that a few players not on the initial printed rosters made the final edition. Thunstrom (BC), Sammy Nixon (SCSU) & Green and Blader (EP HS) are the same way for Schwan Blues. My understanding though is that many times these players won't make all the games, etc. are subbing/filling in. I also see that Flor is playing for the Pink and Johnson (Farmington HS) is too instead of her normal Schwan Blues affiliation. ALso - Jondal - new goalie with CDH is playing with Pink and she is absolutely amazing.spr air 210 wrote:wow a surprise guest appearance of Chelsey Jones on the U19 panthers she was almost the difference vs walser blue. Championship was a 2-2 tie between Schwan Blues and IceCats and after 8 min OT still tied. 3 shooter SO ensued. IceCats shot first against Schwans Nixon and she stopped it, then Simones (Toni) scored for Schwans, then IceCats next shooter scored on Nixon, then Thunstrom scored for Schwans, then IceCats shooter stopped by Nixon - Schwans wins SO before their 3rd shooter (Feste) got to shoot.
I should know the other scores but I don't unfortunately. I do know that the Pink beat Schwans on Sat AM by a goal (I don't remember the score). I also know that Schwans beat Walser Blues Sat PM but again I don't remember the score unfortunately.

I've been told that Walser Blue beat Walser White 2-1 in the 3rd place game.
I want to thank the SR and John & Jo Barton of the Schwan Blues for coordinating this tourney. As I understand it, each team ended up playing each other once in this 5-game per team, 6-team event which worked out well in that it was all thrown together at the last minute (last couple weeks). Each team helped keep the cost down for the event by providing at least 1 parent/manager/etc. per game to work the box/clock. I guess I should also note that the event was called the "Schwan Blues Invitational" even though this is a thread titled by the event's original name. Hopefully we'll see it expand to 8 or more teams next year.
