So who's your favorite when it comes to play by play on TV for hockey.
My vote goes to Gary Thorne.
Feel free to throw any other names out there.

Gary Thorne and Bill Clement used to be a great duo.

Whoever does the play by play during hockey night in Canada is by far the best. He is/was on all the EA sports NHL video games as well. I don't know the guy's name though.

So... he said for hockey and you "forgot" to put in some baseball names? You should work on forgetting a little more.

Is Doug McLeod still kicking around somewhere? I always like the way he called a game.
Also, as much grief as the guy got for his "BIG DRIVE!!!" call, I always kind of liked Mike Goldberg - he knew his stuff, and was always really into the game.

I didn't like Doug McCleod initially, but when you just listened to some of the things he said, you couldn't help but laugh.
His insight wasn't the greatest but he delivery and his isms were great.

Doug McLeod with Gopher hockey and Al Shaver with North Stars' hockey were two of the best as far as radio coverage goes.

Jim Hughson.....does the video games and hockey night in canada...by far the greatest broadcaster in hockey.
He has a voice that could make a wolverine purr.

After Mike Goldberg left for UFC (full time), wasn't there talk that the Wild were trying to bring Thorne in here as the play-by-play guy? Is he currently the "voice" of a specific NHL team right now?

He's not even a full time hockey guy anymore.
If I'm not mistaken he is the TV voice of the Baltimore Orioles.

I still think Doug McLeod did his best work on Vern Gagne's All Star Wrestling
