Here are a couple of scores I'm sure everybody was clamoring for. In 3AAA:

Simley over Como Park 4-3. Alex Paitich pitched and drove in all of Como's runs - 2 on a bomb to left field. I think it cleared the fence along the tracks behinf the wall at Midway, so I'd call it about 375 feet.

St. Thomas is in the process of dismantling Johnson, 6-0 in the bottom of the 2nd (and threatening again as I speak).

The 1AAA final four are:

#3 Lakeville N. vs. #8 New Prague
#5 Hastings vs. #7 Rosemount

The umpires were brutal this past weekend, I don't think that changed the outcomes of any of the brackets but if their using the same guys for the final 4  Worst call I've ever seen, a Century kid is stealing second on a pitch in the dirt, the ump makes a safe call well before either the ball or the runner get to second assuming the catcher has no chance, the New Prague catcher has a gun and throws the runner out by 3 feet but the safe call was already given. Fans from both teams were awe struck at the call, to make it worse about the only highlight the TV showed that night was that play. Officials make mistakes, but to anticipate a call....whew, good luck to the final four teams.

As for AA, LaCrescent is a very good team, they breezed through their subsection.

Section 8AAA South Sub-Section

Rocori 1
St. Cloud Apollo 0

Sartell beat St. Cloud Tech but I don't know the score.

Rocori moves on to the South Sub-Section championship and Apollo plays the winner of the Sartell/Little Falls game for the chance to play Rocori again in the championship.

I don't recall it being spelled out anywhere, but would it be safe to assume that the MSHSL will be looking to move one of (if not all 3) state tournaments to the new ballpark in 2010?

I know that when The X was financed, it was written in that they had to allow so many days per year for 'community events' and believe the hockey tourney is part of that. I don't remember hearing the same for the Twins.

Cathedral's Steve Rindelaub with a game winning home run in the bottom 6th. It was a three run homer as the Crusaders were losing 5-3. Kinda clutch? yeaah.

8AAA South Sub-Section Final

Rocori 5
St. Cloud Apollo 2
Apollo found out that as good as Birr is, they can't pitch him on only one day of rest. He was throwing heat in the first couple innings and then ran out of gas.

Rocori now advances to play the winner of Brainerd vs. Bemidji in a best two out of three series for a trip to state.
