Ooh, a wrinkle in the theory. That would make the likely candidates: Matt Johnson, Tyler Lapic, and Chad Hennum. I haven't seen any of these kids play, but the best reports I've heard are about Johnson, so I'll stick with him as my guess.hockeydad wrote:Just to set the record straight,
New Prague's colors are Cardinal Red and Black, not Maroon and Black
and the school song refers to "Red and Black."
I'm surprised nobody is guessing Hennum or Lapic. You all should know I have no specific knowledge about any of these kids, so you can't embarass yourselves by disagreeing with me.

GopherBlog and Iceburg obviously know who the potential invitee is, so they're the only ones who can legitimately criticize our guesses.

NO
Thats Red and DarkBlue
The player I am thinking of played for the Red team at the 17 final 51's.
He had a goal and several assists. Could of had 4 or 5 more goals but Piped them out instead of Piping the puck in! Strong player with 'HUGE UPSIDE'. In the inner circles of playing with his regular high school teammates he has been given the nickname of "CrossBarr Johnny"
Anybody else think they know who This particular play is? Did he show up on your radar?

Include Matt Johnson along with Nick Mattson (Chaska) and Blake Thompsom, a big, smart and mobile defenseman with the other 17's selected from around the country and it would be a good mix of talent, skill, solid goaltending and toughness that a team needs to succeed at any level.
Must be a EP bantam parent??? Prior postings reference that team.
Not even close. My personal team color preference now leans towards the maroon & gold but with a long history of red & white with a little blue added for good measure. My son's a 91 and has played with and against these player's in 15's and 16's. As a longshot I thought Thompson might be the darkhorse due to his size, the fact that he made the final 16's (surprised me, but well deserved) and of his potential to develop.breakout wrote:wingsrule wrote:I agree, Matt Johnson (Stillwater) would definitely be a good pick for the NTDP but I believe Blake Thompson (Eden Prairie) is that "diamond in the rough" that has the potential to develop into a very consistent, solid player and may be the ideal playter for our US "Development" Program. As a footnote, I never look at my prior postings as I attempt to be non-biased in my opinions on this site.

From what I have heard Johsnon is real happy at Stillwater and will be next years captain. He got an invitation to the Elite league next year as well not sure he is going anywhere. They have several returning kids and the J.V. did fairly well they look to have a pretty good team next year i bet if they ask he will pass.
