does anybody know the story as to why the wild may not try to sign this guy before june 1st? i know he was "dismissed" from Mich St for some issues, but what was the real story? he was pretty good growing up and played well freshman season at Mich St, do the wild just chalk this one up as a draft pick that didnt pan out?
thanks for any info.

His development hasn't been what they expected and he has been surpassed by many defenseman in the Wild system. If they let him re-enter the draft, they get the 40th overall pick in this year's draft which at this point they value more than Thelen.
At Michigan State he was caught drinking several times on the nights before games, which was the main reason he got booted from the Spartans.

The Wild chose the 6-foot-3 defenseman from Savage with the 12th overall pick in the 2004 draft. He was coming off a stellar freshman season at Michigan State, where he was a second-team All-American.
Thelen ran into trouble at the school and was kicked off the hockey team after being caught drinking underage.
This didn't help? follow the rules.
