Final 20 for Select 15s

Post by TCoachF »

I know Andrew Pitts from Brooklyn Park and Joey Benik from St. Francis made it. Does anyone know the whole roster yet?

did you hide in a cave this year? Benik scored 31 goals as a freshmen so if you haven't heard of him then i don't know what to tell you.

Ok, Benik was one of the leading scorers at the camp, and easily one of the best players. Also, Pitts is a solid pick, absolutely nothing wrong with taking him in my mind. very solid player. Sour grapes?

I have found out the goalies are Matt Ray from Andover and Jimmy Kruger from Hopkins. Also, Max Smith from Eastview is on.

As for Pitts from BP, he is a very solid defensive defenseman. He has some offensive talent but steady is the word to describe him. I would really like a full roster if anyone has seen one.

In the past years the selection for the national camp has been 12 forwards,6 defensemen and 2 goalies. There is also an alternate forward, defenseman and a 3rd goalie selected. When they get to the national camp the players are split up. The 20 plus the alternates names should be on the Mn Hockey wed site.

Congrats

Post by morebs »

I'd like to congratulate the families and kids who were selected. Great job! Don't forget, you'll have to work your butt off to earn premium playing time and if you don't, next year will be all that much more difficult.

For those who didn't get selected, you can use this as an opportunity to whine or to motivate junior. You might be right, junior might have been one of the best kids there, but stuff happens. Teach your kid a great lesson by telling him he'll have to be even more prepared and dominant next season. A little adversity builds a lot of character and can set him up for great success, in hockey or in the "real" world.

Best of luck to all!

For those that did make it beware. There is a great turnover from 15 to 16 and on to 17. Very rare for a kid to be on the final team three years in a row. You also need to be aware that there are kids down a rung that are not close to being fully developed physically.

Making it at 15 is a nice honor. Making it at 16 and especially at 17 can open doors.

I don't see John Skrbec's name on any of the team rosters on the "USA Hockey" site. Is he hurt?
