Do the players have to stay overnight? Even if they live in the camps hometown?

Media, I have been looking around talking to some forwards and defense throughout the area and promoting for you a little bit. I hope some of them sign up.Media wrote:Still a few slots left in the Defensive and Forward positions would love to fill the last few soon to be able to get profiles and papework done and correct in advance purely a selfish request LOL
THanks for the support
Thank you Bob for any effort you have made, this has been a solid year of planning and is getting close now to becoming a reality .. I hope you will find some time to come and observe and report back what you are seeing to this board.

The talent level was not sub par. Many of those young girls have a ton of talent. One young girl in particular, Bailey Rasmussen, could play with any girl there any day. Sure, there were a few that may not have "belonged" but that was very few.. Rooming...what do you expect? It is the same thing with Lucia Camp, when they used to have Adam Hauser camp, etc. I don't think it was the rooming, I think it was the girls who decided to stay up and blab all night. I talked to many girls, from both Rapids/Greenway, and out of town...all of them thought it was great. For a first year camp/tournament deal, it was outstanding.rink#1 wrote:Heard a variety of reports on the skills fest weekend. Rooming accomadations brutal, talent level sub par due to very young players allowed in, but good practices. My daughter said weekend was Ok after traveling "up north' for the weekend! I think next year I will monitor the rosters more closely!
We are not from Grand Rapids but stayed in the area and watched the evening games. We brought a small group of players from our area to the Northern Skill fest and have to agree with boblee that we only heard positive comments from the girls we chatted with in the evenings and on Wednesday morning.
There were a couple gals that I would guess were JV players but what a great experience for those couple players.
Sleeping at the arena was a known so should not have been a huge surprise.
As a first year event, they did a great job!

Thankyou BobLee and Sports ma for your supportive comments, I, like you have heard many positive comments about our event. It was our hope that in the first uear we could fill the event. In fact we were two short as a result of not being notified by two players that they had chose to cancel, we had however turned a few away as a result of believeing we were full so we are pleased on that front. Had we forced people to pay up front that maynot of happened. But we are cognative of the financial burdens hockey can place on people we choose to work with people.
The level of play was excellent according all of the on ice D-1 coaches. Younger players, you bet, not let in but intentionally asked in to promote the future and to develop a level of understanding for them to know where they have to get to. There were no great scoriung machines out there so it must not have watered down the field too much . I thought all of the girls played hard and learned a lot. Sleeping quarters agreed, certainly not the Hilton or even the super 8 but its what we had to offer. As Bob suggested there were many memories and friendships created in that format and I am sure it will be the same next year. I thought the food was excellent and plentiful. Now did we make a few errors I suppose so, On the last day we asked all the girls to come up with some ideas to make it better next year, they did and we will employ their ideas next year. We have done the same with the coaches who all agreed the camp was smooth and helpful for them. We had three head coaches from WCHA Division one schools and and a Division 3 coach all involved throughout the day with the girls . They all had a chance to sit down and ask whatever question they may of had a bout college and they did . And finally Kick Boxing instructor wendy Sersha provided certainly one of the off ice highlites to the camp by all accounts, the girls were very much in agreement on that . So all in all very happy and thankful to all the players and coaches and parents who allowed for this event to occur. We hope to make it better each and every year.

From what I saw, this camp was a success. Talked to girls who were very pleased with it. It wasn't a brutal, overbearing camp that ran the girls ragged. Some down time between events, which is definately needed.
If errors were made, then that is to be expected, as this was the first year the camp was put on. Overall, it's my humble opinion that Media did an excellent job.
