In the post game report interview with Gardy, a reporter remarks that after his 4 for 4 night, Cuddyer looks hot.

Gardys response was "he can play baseball too".

They proved last year that they can make second half runs by not spending money. So we'll see.

Tell me one thing that's wrong with the team that they need to spend money on.
1. I would accept the DH line because we really don't have a power hitter, but if you look in the other thread I don't mind how we use our DH.
2. Our defense is great as is. We don't need anyone to be replaced there.
3. We have the 3rd best bullpen in the majors, probably 1st by the end of the year.
4. We only have one ace in Santana, but Baker and Slowey are young and definitely proving themselves. Garza ain't bad either. Bonser and Silva are up and down, but with a little more run support they wouldn't have the whole team on their shoulders.

In my opinion all this team needs to 1 more ace and we'll be amazing. We get Liriano back last year (who was probably Cy Young bound last year), Santana back, Baker, Slowey and Garza are a great line up, but another ace would be good.
Another thing to remember is the injuries. Our batting champ was injured for a long time and hasn't made the best come back. Our MVP has been injured.

We had the Cy Young winner, the MVP, the batting champ, and a golden glove winner, all who's said they want to stay with the twins if they can. In my humble opinion, the most we could use (without spending too much, since they probably won't) is a really good pitcher; and to hit the ball a little more consistently of course.

Tonights scheduled starter (Kennedy) was used in relief last night, so L. DiNardo 3-5, 2.72 will get the start.

Good luck to Mr. DiNardo going up against Cytana... at home... in the 2nd half.

Sounds like a "W" to me.

2.72, that's a good ERA. Is he normally a reliever, cuz he's not on the ERA tops list on mlb.com?

The Twins are fourth in the league in ERA and the 3 teams ahead of them are not in their division.

They also lead the division in fewest runs allowed.

So tell us ChrisK, why dont they lead the division?

Hmmmmm , this is a tough one. Oh lets just look. What a surprise! The Tigers and Indians are 1 and 2 in runs scored.

HIT THE BOOFIN BALL!!!!!

How about a third basemen with some offensive threat?

Quite true, let's try for A Rod.

Well, I see what you're saying, but he's not horrible. Really good at 3rd base and a consistent hitter. Getting someone with a little more power may sacrifice defense. But I guess that would be the other possibility.

A-Rod? Can't be serious. They don't want to pay Torii Hunter what he is worth, so they definately won't be paying A-Rod what he's worth. Speaking of starting pitching, how's Liriano doing? He ever recover from that arm problem yet?

Packerboy, my point was that the starters other than Johan need to pick it up. They've got a great defense behind them, a great bullpen to finish the game but if they're giving up 4 or 5 runs a start they're putting the team in a hole that the offense as it currently stands isn't going to get them out of.

If they had a DH, third baseman and/or a left fielder with some offense the starters' numbers would probably be OK but this team doesn't have that margin of error. They're kind of in the spot they were two years ago. Maybe this offense can jump start itself but if it can't they need the starters to keep them in the game like Baker did last night. Unless Ryan pulls the rabbit out of the hat and finds a hitter at Goodwill they'll need maximum performance from the starters.

And you know why they don't lead the division? Because right now the Tigers and Indians are better teams, they both have offenses that can cover any pitching deficiencies.

ATTENTION PACKERBOY AND CHRISK!!!

Tastes great; Less filling

Obviously if you hit the ball well, you can get by without sending 5 Cy Youngers to the mound. The flip side works too. Realisticaly, we need improvement in both halves of the inning to reach the playoffs. You two are going on like HS and Knowlzee!

If what someone did in the past isn't relative we'd have a lot of people who we didn't support, including Johan.
