Minnesota...err...Montreal Canadiens

Post by Observer85 »

Several of Minnesota's finest High School players have been drafted in the past 4 years by the Canadiens organization. They have had their development camp this past week.

Six Minnesota players (of a total of 24 in the camp) who took place in the camp this week are:

JT Wyman - HS team : Blake
David Fischer - Apple Valley
Ryan McDonagh - Cretin
Joe Skejskal - Grand Rapids
Scott Kishel - Virginia
Andrew Conboy - Rosemount

The Canadian fans are what you would call "passionate" about their team. Attached is a message board thread from Hockeys Future with fan comments on the various players. The thread (now 16 pages) also shows You Tube videos of some of the action.

thanks for the website observer.

Interesting to see how the Canadien fans are. Lots of opinions on the various players and wide ranging. Kishel goes from being out of place to maybe something is there to whatever. Similar comments for McDonagh and Fischer.

The videos really show the importance of being a good skater. Even though the guys liked being there, it looks like a lot of hard work.

I've noticed Montreal has always drafted a proportionately higher number of Minnesota players and this surprises me because the Canadians--particularly the French Canadians are hockey purists. Maybe these Canadians see that there is talent outside of Quebec that can help them win! Oh Canada... :D

Presently, the Canadiens seem to be holding at lot of stock in a local scout who resides in Minnesota. Makes for some good opportunities for the Minnesota players. Now the players need to make it work out, so it continues.
