Oliver is a really good coach, as long as Billy is his assistant. The whole Billy Lund vs. Neal Broten debate is just absurd. Not taking anything away from Billy as a player, but that's just laughable. I think Billy himself would agree with me. All the Ross's vs. all the Lund's would be a sweet matchup, the winner plays all the Broten's for the Roseau cup. The winners also get 2 free drinks at the Legion followed by some dragon slaying back at Billy's place.

watchdog wrote:you can debate neal to bill your funny. how can you possible debate a highschool championship to college national title, olympic gold medal, hobby baker and a stanley cup? like compareing coach oliver to herb brooks yeah thats comparable.. i mean try to have some common sense. along these lines i would say donnie ross could be one of the best to ever play in the memorial without the credentials. i could somewhat swallow that.
we have really gotton off topic...but,

Dog---> ewe know i'm not comparing the careers of the two. or debating the significance of the 1990 state high school championship vs. the miracle on ice etc...There is not a comparison to be made.

that being said, and since this is a "high school hockey forum" I think comparing the two at the high school level is fair. And, Billy overall had a fantastic high school career and led his team to a state chamionship, something Mr. Broten did not. And yes there are many former Ram greats that could be added in here.

Anyway, the point (from the original post) was you can be great at the high school level but have peaked there (ala billy) or be good at the high school level but peak in 2-3-5 years and make the big show...

since we delving into the past and this topic is losing its sanity, have some fun and google up the 1990 entry draft, you will see some big NHL names way way down the list. I think sometimes it is how bad you really, realy want it.

its getting to be a long summer...wish i had some ac. :)

Wow. I've laughed a quite a bit of the posts since the season ended, but this entire thread might take the cake. The entire last page made me blow beer out my nose all over my keyboard.

You guys need to relax for a few more months and maybe take up golfing.

It's threads like this that make reading this forum fun.... Keep it up BIG. Billy dominates and so do the Ram's!

Big, you should know, no dragons allowed at Billy's place. That's a long standing rule back when the previous renters lived there.

It will be very interesting next season to see how Roseau sets their lines. Landman, Nelson and Moser played together before and compliment each other very well. It will be interesting to see if Coach Oliver puts Nick in one of their spots.

Just a guess, but I think the best combination would be Landmann, Moser, Nelson or Knockemeus. 2nd line Oliver, Fabian, Nelson or Knockemues.

That name is hard to spell, pretty sure it's wrong.

Goaltending will be this teams biggest strong point, with skilled forwards and defenseman to compliment it. There's some good speed on this team. It will be important for everyone to stay healthy. If they do, watch out!! These guys were young last year, so you'd think they can only get better. I'm already excited for making a run at back to back titles. Should be an exciting season.
