Little off topic but not worthy of it's own...Daunte Culpepper signs 1 year deal with Oakland he say's it was the best fit, and met his 8 criteria factors???? cripes I think it was his only choice, when your only getting a 1 year deal (with Oakland ) and not disclosing the amount, I'd say your value is pretty much gone to zip!

I must've missed his 8 criteria factors, but was one of them "attempt to keep my knee (that was ripped to shreds) in tact behind a horsecrap o-line"?Can't Never Tried wrote:Little off topic but not worthy of it's own...Daunte Culpepper signs 1 year deal with Oakland he say's it was the best fit, and met his 8 criteria factors???? cripes I think it was his only choice, when your only getting a 1 year deal (with Oakland ) and not disclosing the amount, I'd say your value is pretty much gone to zip!
If it was, I can see that he rightfully could check that off the list.
Losing to the Atlanta Boofin' Falcons and New York Boofin' Giants isn't embarrassing? And they SHOULD have been in those games, particularly the 1998 game.packerboy wrote:Chrisk, I remember those games well but at least they were in those games.
Sure, they should have won both and they got upset but they didnt get embarrased.
All I can say about 1998 is: Gary Boofin Anderson.
Blaming Anderson for that loss is like blaming Buckner for the '86 Red Sox loss--sure he made the most visible mistake but there were a lot of other mistakes that led to that one.
Buckner screwed himself right off the bat in the '86 series... anybody catch this column? It's fascinating.packerboy wrote:ChrisK wrote: Blaming Anderson for that loss is like blaming Buckner for the '86 Red Sox loss--
I am ok with that.
Buckner deserves what he got for doing something so stupid if you ask me!

Govs, I missed that comment of yours and you're missing my point. There were two games we lost last year by 6 where there was a bad, unchallengeable call made on a kick off return we returned for a TD. That would tie the game at least, hopefully we could've gotten the extra point.
There are refs, unfortunate things happen, we all know this. But my overall point is that the Vikes weren't really THAT bad last year. They weren't the best team, but they weren't the horrible.
And contrary to popular belief, whether you like it or not, refs can win or lose games.

This is a joke, right? I mean honestly... you've said a lot of ridiculous things on this board, but you have to be kidding about this.HShockeywatcher wrote:

If you ask any of the 53 members of the team or any of the coaches if the refs were the reason they lost any game last year, you'd probably get laughed at. you can bitch and moan about this call or that one, but guess what... review every other play of the game and count up the number of fumbles, interceptions, misreads, missed blocks, penalties, routes run incorrectly, poor clock management, burned timeouts, and bad play calls... once you add all those up, compare it to the 2 bad calls you're talking about and honestly assess who's REALLY responsible for the Vikes' season. Change just one mistake here or there each game and suddenly the season is completely different. Go out and do the job correctly, and don't make yourself dependent on the refs' calls to determine your fate.
Blame the refs... what a cop out. It's the cry of thousands of people who can't take responsibility for the way they played the game and fans who can't see the forest for the trees... and 6 year olds.

Tavaris
AP
Williamson
Greenway
...
Honestly, I'm sure the popular answer will be AP, but I think in terms of looking toward the future, you have to watch Jackson, don't you? If he doesn't pan out, you're probably going to have to add at least another 1 or 2 years to the rebuilding plan because they'll have to get somebody else in here. I think he's going to need to be the straw that stirs the drink.

I heard AP is already suffering a hip pointer?? Great
I think I'm looking fwd. to see if Greenway will actually play this year and his impact..and of course a little anxious to see if Jackson can settle down and get comfortable.
Oh yeah....and those ref's I'm counting on them this year to win us a few

Govs, you want me to "take responsibility for the way they played the game", well, according to how they played the game, we scored the same number of pts are the opposing team, and missed an opportunity for an extra one twice. You are 100% right that the refs didn't do all those other things. Just like we are accountable for what we do wrong, so should they be. If all plays were reviewable we would've been in the playoffs.
All that being said, you seem like an avid sports fan. Being one you should know that you can screw up time and time again, have by far worse numbers than many teams in many areas and still do well. It happens every year.
That being said, you're still missing my point. My point isn't that we should've won any more games than we did. For whatever reason certain calls aren't reviewable and others are. We didn't score more the rest of the games. Etc. Etc. My point is that we weren't the horrible team you guys keep claiming. That's all.

No, you're missing my point - I wasn't even concerned about whether or not the team could've won more games. I was pointing out the fact how ridiculous your comment was that said (and I quote) "refs can win or lose games".HShockeywatcher wrote: That being said, you're still missing my point. You're right, I am an avid sports fan, which is why I know that you can dwell on whatever call(s) get missed by officials (and I'm not saying they don't miss any, the definitely do... a lot), because you know that either earlier in the game, or later in the game, you or your team could have done something different to make that blown call a non-issue. Catch the dropped pass, advance the runner from 1st to 3rd, make the pass instead of taking the slapshot, hit the free throw earlier in the half... you name it, something that you or your teammates could have been done differently has far more effect on the outcome of a game than a ref's call.
And do you honestly think I'm asking you to take responsibility for Vikes losses?! It seems pretty clear to me that even if you had any responsibility for that, you wouldn't accept it anyway! Why would you do that when you can point the finger at somebody else, and make it easier on yourself?
Ugh... I'm falling into the Circle Trap

I've heard that admitting you have a problem is the first step toward recovery... I hope that's true.Neutron 14 wrote:I was going to throw him a line, but was too amused....Can't Never Tried wrote:Govs93 wrote:
