U-17 National Team
Interesting how only 1 player (Danny Mattson, Chaska HS) made this team made up of 91's. The rest are Midget players, weird how there aren't as many MN players as I thought there would be.

I believe you mean Nick Mattson. Danny Mattson (no relation) is a talented player that plays at AHA.shooter812 wrote:Interesting how only 1 player (Danny Mattson, Chaska HS) made this team made up of 91's. I can't believe there aren't more 91 birth year Minnesota players that are deserving.

Not sure I agree there should be much more than there is. Maybe one or two more at most (I think Ryan Walters should have made it in the end) but that birth year simply isn't as strong at the top at this stage as some of the birth years that recently graduated (for instance, the 1987, 1988, 1989 years).... and that is something consistently stated by some hockey people who scout nationally.breakout wrote:I can't believe there aren't more 91 birth year Minnesota players that are deserving.

It was close, but no, they didn't offer him. They were concerned his skating wouldn't hold up at the higher levels. There's still plenty of opportunity for him to prove them wrong.breakout wrote:Wasn't Budish offered and turned it down? I heard they pressed him.
It will be interesting to see if any 91 kids have upside and develop over the next year. A year can make a difference for some. Many kids at 16 have not finished developing physically.
Some may have a chance at U18 National Team.
If he has a weakness...........it is his skating. He's athletic, he can improve that if he wants. The Exiled One wrote:It was close, but no, they didn't offer him. I have to believe others will improve their stock over the next year.
