96 Machine vs 96 Blades

jancze5 - I respectfully disagree with your statistically analysis. My experience is it is high enough in just association hockey or soccer. (example - the stress you see on parents, not players, during try-outs)
but rises substantially when it comes to teams like this. I never had a bad experience but my kids were all multi-sport athletes and their focus had to be the current in-season sport. So based on priorities we participated only a few times in leagues like this.
Speaking from just what I have witnessed or experienced first hand. I'm sure you are basing your opinion on the same......so the truth is somewhere between both our experiences

Re: Tom
jancze5, I was having some fun and not trying to berate AAA hockey. Like TA, my kids are multi sport athletes. Both were asked to play for the Blades at seperate times. In my opinion, the Blades program does not work well with travel baseball and I would assume travel soccer. Therefore, we found other things for them to do in order to play other sports and progress in hockey. It seems to have worked well for them.jancze5 wrote:Tomass...just wondering one thing..why does it always have to be "overindulgent parents living through there kid"?
For a lot of these folks, and I'm not one of them, they are in the realm for the first time with there son who happens to be a decent 8,9,10 year old. For many of them they just simply are having there own fun and enjoying what they have right now, wether it be with the parents they are with or their kids friends/teammates...
For many who come on here and just berate AAA hockey and spring stuff and all of that...I just wonder if you yourself were just never invited or participated or just simply had a bad experience...
I'm just saying that it's easy to sit there and throw the "living through your kids" statement, but for 99.9% of the folks out there..that's the furthest from the truth....not to be an apologist..
"we talkin bout practice...practice!!"...AI
There are a lot of overly intense parents that jump on this forum. That is o.k. because they are entitled to their opinions too.
Seems like you have things in perspective. Enjoy your kids, they grow up fast.

well it looks like the machine won the game that actually mattered
9-0 score and it was definatley a 9-0 game.
the blades had maybe 10 shots
this weekend's so called "Minnesota Blades" well, it looks like they need to start bringin in some kids from europe for next years tournament
basically they were the Midwest Blades with kids from St. Louis, Wisconsin, Iowa and Manitoba playing this weekend...

96 blades vs. 96 machine
Just to clarify the midwest blades, the st. louis kid referred to just recently moved to st. louis has been on this roster for years, and no such kid from manitoba. Wisconsin and iowa correct. Just to state the facts.

When it comes right down to it, who really cares? That is the sarcasm here in this whole thread.SotaH0ck14 wrote:well it looks like the machine won the game that actually mattered

Well, I am sure glad that the 2014 Gophers team is picked already so my 11 y/o goalie can stop working toward HIS dream of playing for the U. Yes, I also knew (at the age of 11) when I was playing with former U star, Olympian and NHL alum, Corey Millen that he was going to play at the U, two Olympics and 10+ years in the NHL-especeially since he was the smallest kid on the team. Guess I am just living my dream through my kid. Now I know why he asks me to shoot hundreds of pucks at him in our garage every day. I thought he just liked getting hit by rubber saucers and would grow out of it....
As for the Machine's "no celebration" rule: the kids are showing class and acting like they do it all the time. The best way to celebrate is to line up and score again! There is no place for hot-dogging in hockey. Show respect for your opponents and they will respect you. Celebrate a goal by hot-dogging and the next shift may be your last. Isn't the goal of sports to teach teamwork, cooperation and overcoming obstacles? What about learning to deal with victory gracefully and loss with dignity? Have a nice day!!

?
99% of all goals scored in the NHL,AHL,ECHL,CHL,QMJHL,WHL,OHL,USHL,NAHL,MJHL,WCHA,CCHA,ECHL,CHA,MIAC,ACHA and so on and so forth produce some type of goal celebration, some more intense then others. I have never witnessed any team except for the couple times I have seen the machine or duece just skate to the center red and line up. Maybe those kids have it right and Ovy and Crosby are all wrong. That last post is as off base as any. I like the part,"it may be your last?"
P.S. I remember Corey Millen doing a liittle celebrating when he scored goals also.

Let's watch the game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals where a guy scores a goal to win his team the cup. He should show no emotion, just go and pick up his trophy like he deserved it the whole time.rockinroland wrote:you mean not even one bit of celebration? from anyone? even the bench? must have been because they did too much celebrating in a previous game and the coach was teaching them a lesson.

Oh brother. Hockey is suppose to be fun. Goal celebrations aren't that bad and as long as you aren't taunting the other team, it's harmless. Knock off the whole hockey and tradition crap. That's what has hockey at the professional level in such a sorry state. No willingness to change.
agreed ref .............seems to me I remember the Goldy Shuffle back in the late 60's early 70's ....that's ancient history(tradition) for most heretheref wrote:Let's watch the game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals where a guy scores a goal to win his team the cup. I agree...I remember the shuffle.
Maybe that's why they're called the "Machine"
Have fun kids it's over way to soon...the only people that don't like the celebration is those on the other side of it...

Seems even meanner
It seems to me that the no celebration is more of an in your face to the other team. Almost like saying look we expect to do this to you alot so it isn't even worth the energy to celebrate. by the way, why do you think you can be on the ice with us?

draft
checked all the draft sites..NHL, USHL, OPJHL, QMJHL, WHL, even the D-1 recruit lists..didn't see any 96's on any of them, I looked everywhere.
Point: Relax guys, let the kids play where they play and parents spend what they want to and who really cares, we all know that 1 in a million make it. I'm sure there's a swiss forum as well where they're talking about little Johan and little Pet'er playing for Swissmade Hockey and how they're on the ice 1000 hours a year...who cares.
Enjoy the ride, because it goes fast, then suddenly you're not with your oldest kid who can play and instead with your 8 year old daughter who can barely wheel at all and you're just thrilled she has that big smile on her face because she loves hockey!!!
