Section 7AA Pre-Season Rankings Thread
This thread will be to rank the teams of section 7AA. After a couple weeks of people putting in their top tens, I will release the MH 7AA Rankings.
Here is my shot...
1. Grand Rapids- I know they lost a lot, but 2 time defending section champs.
2. Anoka- Returns a lot of good scorers and a goalie. New to the section, but who knows?
3. Duluth East- Could easily be the most powerful team in this section.
4. Cloquet- Have a lot of young talent on that team.
5. Forest Lake- They were young last year, Moberg will improve in net.
6. Elk River- Easily could move up, but need to replace a lot from an average team last year.
7. Andover- Good luck Huskies. They could easily secure this spot.
8. Cambridge- Shot in dark over St. Francis
9. St. Francis- Could move up to 7 over the course of the year.
Let the polling begin.

1. Anoka hate to put them first, they needed to stay in cities...led by John O.
2. East, yes, they need a goalie, but do have a great group of returning
players, and a strong D. Rob J.led team in scoring last year and will again this year
3. Cloquet - led by Justin J.
4.Elk RIver
5. Grand Rapids lost way too much
6. F Lake
7.Cambridge
8.Andover
9.St. Francis

Hope for a northern team
but my guess is that people will be very surprised at how good the Tornadoes will be. They play in the top conference in the state and this will get them road tested for what lies ahead.

1.) East - Solid defense will be better than Anoka because of special teams
2.) Anoka- Best talent-most dissention-O'Neil, Scott, Lesmeister...etc...all good hockey players but their teamwork is big question mark.
3.) Elk River- will start slow but have some talented kids who will get better as season progresses
4.) Cloquet: one man does not make a team. Lakc speed and scoring punch
5.) Forest Lake- sleeper team with talent and some scoring...better than average and could budge ahead of Cloquet easily
6.) GR- watched these guys this summer and they were beaten fairly easily by above average teams...goaltending a issue
7.) Cambridge- Have a kid who can score-goaltending will be weak
8.) Andover- This team doesn't have a scorer and appears to have alot of dissention
9.) St Francs- out manned in AA

HO Famer comment
Only time will tell how good Anoka will be...but for HO Famer to suggest internal decention or lack of teamwork tripping up this team (compared to the other teams in this Section) is either wishful thinking...or simple ignorance. This team reached State in Bantams in 2005 (as did Duluth East)...Anoka endured the split of their association following their 1st year of PeeWee's...their core group has been together for many year's and get along very well on and off the ice ...and from a teamwork standpoint... 4 of their players will be playing together this fall on Team NW in the Elite League.HOFam'r wrote:1.) I think it's the latter of the two...hockey59 wrote:Only time will tell how good Anoka will be...but for HO Famer to suggest internal decention or lack of teamwork tripping up this team (compared to the other teams in this Section) is either wishful thinking...or simple ignorance. 8.) Andover- This team doesn't have a scorer and appears to have alot of dissention
to suggest internal decention or lack of teamwork tripping up this team
DISSENSION
Since the team is not picked yet, I think we need to wait and see.
And since the thing that can, and usually does, bring a bunch of players together is winning; I think Anoka may have less than most other teams.
Other than that I don't disagree with you.

Re: HO Famer comment
Neither...this team is as talented as any other in the state and this group of kids should have done more....even last year....when things go wrong the finger pointing begans and any semblance of teamwork is gone...sorry but those who follow Anoka know it's true. Personally, I would love to see this crew do well but unless they work together they will beaten by a coach who stresses teamwork...Hockey 59...this team is not a bunch of overacheivers...but more the opposite...Thanks for the spelling lesson E70...hockey59 wrote:Only time will tell how good Anoka will be...but for HO Famer to suggest internal decention or lack of teamwork tripping up this team (compared to the other teams in this Section) is either wishful thinking...or simple ignorance. Forest Lake could easily budge ahead of Cloquet... Maybe on Fantasy Island!!HOFam'r wrote:1.) East - Solid defense will be better than Anoka because of special teams

East should win it this season. Cloquet and Rapids are rebounding a bit. Anoka and Elk River are hunting for 2nd and 5th respectivly. Not as strong of a section as the past 2 years.
